What People are saying

Older property. Met all basic needs. Nothing fancy

familytraveler455 on 26/06/2017 18:10

This is an older hotel. It met all of our basic needs. The pool was fun for the kids. The room was a bit small and the bathroom a bit outdated but it was clean and right off the highway so very easy to find. Hotels in the area are a bit limited but this one is a safe choice.

Lie and Cheat...

Michael A on 06/06/2017 02:32

I booked my stay at Miner's Hotel during "Off-Season" time. The owner stated I could stay as long as I wanted at a reduced rate since "We are not busy now" (planned stay from April 5 through April 13). I requested a large room as I was in Sonora preparing for a trial; two computers, two tables, computer printer, and trial files. All was good until, on the 5th day of my stay, he told me to leave as he had another party who had reserved the room. He knocked on my door at 11 am and told me I had to leave immediately. I reminded him of our arrangement; he said "You have to leave". When he saw my set-up, he told me I could stay until the next day. It took me hours to find another suitable hotel room. The next day when I moved, it was pouring rain; it took me 4 hours to move. I paid for an additional two days for which I did not have much use of the room (hours looking for a new hotel and the next day of moving out of one hotel and moving into and setting up in a new motel). I had a friend of mine call the hotel to book a room; the room rate was nearly double as the rate I was paying. I found out that Sonora had an event at the Sonora Fair Grounds that was attracting more people than originally thought it would attract. The owner merely asked me to leave so he could fill the room with a higher paying quest. I would have paid a higher rate if he would have explained to me the situation; I was never given the opportunity to stay longer. As it turned out, he had four empty rooms (including the one I occupied) due to heavy rain. My bank, after review of the contract and hearing both sides of the argument, reversed the charges for two days of hotel stay; the hotel lost. He also lied and stated he worked for the Sonora Police and I would be in trouble if I did not leave. When I questioned him about his working for the Sonora Police in front of one of his employees, he LIED and denied ever saying it. A hotel quest witnessed the conversation and wrote a declaration as to the statement he made stating he worked for the Sonora Police. A very bad experience for me.

Tip for consumers: I would not recommend staying at this hotel as the owner might put you in an uncomfortable situation causing loss of money, time, and causing great inconvenience.

Fab quiet motel

David S on 18/04/2017 06:14

Great little motel about an hour and a half from yosemite national park. Me and my partner left the park late and found this place tucked away. Lovely friendly staff that were so helpful. We had a large upstairs room with a queen bed. Lovely and clean. We were only going to stay one night but had such a good quiet night we extended our stay. There is a coffee making facilities. Microwave and fridge in the room. The TV was a bit dated but who watches TV on holiday. There is a great Mexican restaurant beside the fuel station down the road that serves a excellent breakfast menu and is cheap. It was a bit strange being given tortilla chips and chilli while you are waiting for your breakfast

Looking for Gold?

Hilda O on 25/02/2017 12:12

Well maybe there's no gold but they are nice and clean rooms. Beds were real comfy which was a plus after all the driving I did!
Reception desk was friendly and helpful. Got tips on where we could get something to eat really late. All in all it was a nice stay here. Parking lot filled but it was quiet all thru the night.

Average at best, but OK staging point for local points of interest

sherpatina on 08/01/2017 22:03

The second night we were here, a herd of elephants directly above our ground-floor room kept stomping around even after the hotel manager called to ask them to keep it down. Bring ear plugs if you want to increase the odds of getting a decent night's sleep. The shower was an adventure unto itself, running hot and cold intermittently. On the other hand, those with pets might appreciate finding an affordable motel that's dog-friendly.
