This place is very strange - very dark and weird with an open roof so the rooms are freezing. It smells like an old people's home and is not worth the price. Furthermore the showers are cold with limited pressure.
Francis gave a nice welcome but frankly micromanaged our stay. The owner has to let you in and out each time you want to pop out, and it's very awkward having to explain yourself to a 50+ year old man in a robe every time you want to enjoy your holiday.
Furthermore he does not like if you go out and hen charged is an extra night for staying past the check out time. Fair enough but that's the kind of guy he is.
Stay here if you are warm blooded and above 35 years old. Otherwise, please avoid...

Francis was a great host, he speaks great English which helped us a lot because our Spanish isn't the best. We had a taxi coming at 4:30am and he woke up and waited with my girlfriend and I to make sure we left safely. The next morning he set up breakfast for us with amazing food and the best coffee I've ever had. All in all, if you need a place to stay in Lima I would definitely recommend the Miraflores House. 😃

The rooms are very clean and simple, the location is unbeatable for exploring the best of Miraflores, and Francis (the owner) is an all around great guy!
If you want to know the best eats in Lima then Francis will clue you right in. He is also fluent in English and Spanish so it's easy to figure out directions, etc.
In my 40+ days of traveling around Peru this hostel is easily in the top 3!

What an odd place. Very heavily fortified, this place was dark, dusty and a bit strange. Fine if you are a lonely backpacker but not for a family! Greeted by the owner (?) who was scantily clad in next to nothing over a balcony like Lord of the manor and his staff who forgot to remind us about breakfast which we didn't have the next morning. Rooms are dark and very brown and bathroom is a bit old and fusty. It's cheap though, and in a decent location, so every cloud as they say....

Stayed here for a few nights and the manager Francis was an absolute delight, very warm and friendly. Rooms were relatively clean and fresh towels every day was very welcome.
My main issue was the location. It was a good 10/15 minute walk to the main part of Miraflores where most the other hostels/bars were so for my personal type of travel that would have been a better area for me. The entrance was also odd as you had to be let both in and out, I'm sure this was for security reasons but I felt bad asking to leave all the time.
But overall it was a lovely hostel and would be a great place to stay as a family I think as it was incredibly safe and quiet, not a typical backpackers party hostel.
