Good Location in Cortina
athu2kuson 29/09/2017 23:26I stayed here for a week in Sept. 2017 with a hiking group. The hotel is in a great location. Yes, the hotel is old & the rooms are small, but this is typical of Europe. The hotel is a low cost option in Cortina at about $80 per night. The room was adequate the the breakfast was good. All of the staff were very courteous & helpful. Yes there are nicer hotels in Cortina, but you will pay much more. Overall the hotel was a good value for Cortina, which can be quite expensive. Stay away from room 105 & request a room on a higher floor.
Not a good experience
EmmaMcVeyon 25/09/2017 11:46This hotel seems more like an old house with rooms than a traditional hotel, which gives it a cute and charming feel. However, there were negatives that I want to voice so others are aware before booking. Because it is an old building, the walls are not insulated well to prevent noise from others. Our room (105) was right next to the stairwell and, with our door closed, we could hear the downstairs phone ringing, people talking in the lobby, every footstep - especially from the room above. We awoke at 06:00 to the sound of our upstairs neighbors packing up. The elevator runs through the wall directly behind the headboard of the bed, which was very annoying and disruptive. Most importantly, though, the bed was completely awful. It was the worst night of sleep I've had in a while - definitely the worst of all the hotels during our vacation to Italy. I even woke up with a sore back. I really wanted to like this hotel - the staff are friendly and helpful, it is centrally located in Cortina, and the breakfast was nice. However, at the end of the day the purpose of a hotel is to get a good night's sleep and to be rested. This hotel did not serve this purpose and I wish I'd not booked a second night. I do not recommend. While it was probably the cheapest option in Cortina, I'd rather spend an extra 10€ per evening to say elsewhere.
We loved Montana
SCagrayon 24/09/2017 20:10We stayed here for two nights prior to starting the AV1. We also planned to stay one night on the back end of our trip but because of poor weather we ended up staying for four additional nights after our trip. Adriano and the staff were great. He held our luggage while we did the hike and was very flexible when we needed to add days and come back a bit earlier than expected. Penny the dog makes sure everything is in order.
We stayed on the very top floor and had a balcony. It was a magnificent view and was very comfortable. We loved looking out to the dolomites before and after we had hiked them.
The breakfast was very good with toast which is a real treat! The lady who keeps up the breakfast is a real gem and we enjoyed interacting with her each morning.
The room was clean and the beds comfortable.
The location of Montana is ideal.
We would stay here again and recommend it to others.
buyer beware
rettupon 22/09/2017 12:02overall we loved this hotel, but beware of your room choice, i didn't realize until we arrived that the room selected (#105) had the bathroom/toilet/shower NOT connected to the room and located across a busy hallway (especially in the morning). also, in order to access the toilet/shower we had to go through the public WC. i wonder if the owners themselves would stay in a hotel with the same situation, as this was a surprise and a little inconvenient. after reading the reservation we selected it only says "external bathroom/WC", but nothing about also having to go through the public WC. we made the best of it and i just want other guests to be aware.
we would stay here again, but obviously not in the same room.
the wifi is hit and miss, overall a miss, but we weren't there for wifi use as the mountains surround this lovely city. but when any hotel advertises wifi it should meet some standard of use or reliability.
breakfast was very good. the waitress who works the dinning room had to be the hardest and most charming worker there. she continued to go back and forth to the back room to keep the food coming, as she also had to clean up guests mess. the dinning room itself is very small. ourselves and other guest often had to wait in the hallway until a table was available.
the location of the hotel is perfect in the center or close to many stores and various restaurants.
the staff interaction we experienced was pleasant.
the room itself was spacious as it had an armoire, dresser and sink/mirror.
Cosy Home away from home
Nicolewolf1on 03/09/2017 09:26I found out about this hotel on TripAdvisor and am so happy I stayed here my two nights in Cortina D'Amprezzo. The price was very reasonable, the room immaculate, comfortable and very cosy, especially due to the down duvet, which, turns out, came in very handy in the 4 degree cold at the beginning of September!
Most delish hot chocolate at breakfast, which was simple, but sufficed indeed. Informal and very cosy ambiance in hotel and the location cannot be beaten - smack in the middle of this posh jet-setter town.
