Had a nice stay in this hotel. Staff was friendly. Big parking space in front of the hotel that's free of charge and safe, so don't pay for the parking space in the hotel. Breakfast was simple and always the same, but tasty enough. Not suitable for wheelchairs, because you have to take some steps to get to the elevator (I found that rather strange). Also: it's located on top of quite a "hill" if you come from the city centre. Other than that, enjoyed our stay. Room and bathroom were clean and alright.

Place was nothing fancy... bathroom was the most disappointing - when you flush the toilet, water goes all over the place... bath had lots of rust... water pressure not ideal.... telephone was not working... carpark light was not working... so as soon as we switched off the car lights (in the very steep downhill driveway) we got pitch dark... lucky mobile can do flash light...
The positives - staff were friendly, and always keen to assist. Nothing was ever too much. The bar is very basic, however, the prices are extremely cheap - so cheap some of the locals come over during the night time to have a drink...
Hotel is only about a 10 -15 minutes walk to the beach... as well as to main shopping area with lots and lots of typical restaurants...
If you not looking for a 5, 4, or even a 3 star hotel, than you will not be disappointed...
The breakfasts are basic, but very very tasty - nice breads, cheeses and hams... yoghurts, coffee... all the basic stuff... did not disappoint me and anyone of my family ... young lady assisting during breakfast was just amazing. No matter how busy she was, always had a smile in her face, and extremely professional... I got to know she was the niece of the manager. As I mentioned. Hotel is run down, but the friendly service really makes up for it. Well done!

We have just come back from a 10 day stay at The Montemar, the staff are really lovely & friendly at this hotel. Yes there is no wifi in the room, there is on the hotel lounge though( you can pay extra if you want it in your room). The rooms are clean & tidy although a bit dated, but let's face it who spends time in there room, only to sleep & shower etc.
The breakfast is continental & you can eat as much as you want & there is plenty of it. The reception staff are very helpful, I forget my hairdryer & was lent one for our stay. Elizabeth on reception was always helpful with local knowledge too. Definitely recommend for a stay in Lagos.

On arrival asked if there was wifi , met with what do you expect for €65, terrible trying to get into garage which we had to pay for although they said was free.Room was very very old, shower and tv out of the ark.They say salelitte tv, really only cnn and Bbc world news.Very poor hotel but the breakfast was really good, only thing I can praise, I would not recommend this hotel, needs a full facelift and receptionists with NO attitude.

Excellent situated, minutes away from old town (by foot) and beaches (by car). The car park across the street is free. The hotel is basic, no luxury, but clean in the rooms. Will recomend especially for the location
