What a great hotel! The staff were very nice, the location was exceptional but the room is what made the difference. First of all there was some room to move around. There were two nice chairs to sit in with a nice coffee table as well as a balcony with a great view of the bay and two chairs and a table. The bathroom had two sinks and lots of counter space and shelves below. There was a separate lavatory room with a door and a nice shower. The beds and pillows were just great and we slept like babies. There was a nice coffee service in the room with a Keurig machine. The safe was in the closet and there was a notch cut out of the corner and an electrical plug on the wall so that you could charge your laptop or iPad while the device was locked up. The room price included a continental breakfast, delivered to your room, each morning. You filled out the card and marked anything that you wanted and the time and it showed up at the time in the morning that you selected. And there was room in the room to actually enjoy it. There is also a coffee service in the lobby in the morning for early risers. Also, there are two hot tubs that guests can take advantage of. We tried the fourth floor outdoor hot tub where you can sit and get spectacular views of the bay. There is also a hot tum on the second floor without the view but with a fire pit . We throughly enjoyed our three-day stay here.

Ideally located at the end of Cannery Row the Inn is well handy for sampling the delights of Monterey town (like Pete's Brewpub) or the sights of the Row like the legendary aquarium. The staff were wonderful, homemade cookies helped the easy check in process for sure.
The room itself was big with a balcony overlooking the Pacific from where you could sip your morning coffee while watching sea otters try and crack open shellfish. Seals, seabirds and more complete the vibe.
Very peaceful, comfortable and thoroughly recommended.

The husby and I (in our 40's) spent a three day weekend at this hotel . The bed faced the water and we had a great view of the pier and beach. The hotel provides a breakfast everyday, while not massive, is just what you need in the morning to start you day. Service was excellent. from the gardners to the housekeepers. If I had one complaint it would be that they could put in a coke machine- There are some drinks in the honor bar, but not the ones we drink, so it would have been nice to be able to grab one easily.

Our stay at the Monterey Bay Inn was fantastic. We had a view of the ocean, beach and harbor. The weather was perfect. We could hear the ocean and the seals barking in the distance. We could see the diver certification classes on the beach and in the ocean.
We stayed there because my husband had an offsite business conference there.I tagged along. The company paid for 2 nights and we paid for 1 additional night. I was never bored, lots of shopping. I never used the the car, I could walk everywhere.
The room was clean and comfortable. The staff really spoiled us. The complementary breakfast is delivered to your room at any time you choose. Every morning, it was a great breakfast. There was fruit and cookies in the lobby every afternoon, room service every day, and a chocolate on the pillow at night. What more could a person ask for?

Good location, decent sized rooms but this is really an up market motel with very little in the way of facilities.
Staff struggled with some of the customer care basics.
Sure we could have got a better deal in another hotel offering more amenities.
