No water in the shower

We walked into our "non-smoking" room and immediately smelled smoke. Also, there was disgusting content in the toilet. Went back to the front desk and were told that the room was truly a non-smoking room, yet he moved us to the room next door. Fine. That was actually a non-smoking room. However, when we tried to shower the next morning, the shower knob did nothing and there was no water that came out in the shower. We went to the front desk to mention that on our way out, and no one was at the desk, nor did anyone come while we waited and waited. We would never return.
I cannot recommend this place.

I don't like to write poor reviews, but this place wasn't a good choice. It was one of the first places we came across after a long day of driving. We were tired and it was late, so we just pulled over and checked in to the first place. The front desk person was friendly. The lobby and room were basic and "cleanish." I had observed strange stains on the mattress box, but thought nothing of it. I observed the mattress and pillows were covered in bed bug mattress covers, which gave me a false sense of security. The floors weren't carpet, which I prefer. It was late and we just needed a place to sleep. In the early morning hours my boyfriend woke me and he had huge, itchy welts. I found two live, fat bed bugs. So, we immediately checked out and hit the road, exhausted. I can't recommend staying here.
Yikes!

If I could rate a zero, I would. We had a 10:00 pm check in (I called) after 9 hours of traveling. There was no one at the desk, just a phone that instructed us to "call for service." We called three times and let it ring at least 20 times each call. A very young boy came to the counter and checked us in, we weren't his first customer, but he had some struggles (but very polite). The stairwell smelled of cigarette smoke, but we eventually made it to our room on the second floor. The room had linoleum tiles that looked like wood planks, not a deal-breaker for me. But when our cooler leaked on the floor, we took a hard hand towel to wipe the water off the floor and it virtually turned brown. Speaking of the towels, we came sunburnt from our trip south and the towels were so stiff and hard they were like using sandpaper on our skin. Sparsely furnished, the bed was horrible. We had a king bed that had a sinkhole on the right side of the bed that you literally could not roll out of. We also were suspicious of whether or not we were the first people between the sheets as there was some grains of sand in the sinkhole. We were exhausted, but slept fully dressed on the top sheet after that discovery.
Renovations in progress

Location is great. Small entry area with a couple small tables and chairs, well maintained. Staff friendly. The room had a new laminate floor but not super clean. The old cheesy bedspreads still exist. Bathroom was ok, the fan was not effective for showers. Maintenance guy checked me out in the morning and said that that room's bathroom was getting updated in some manner that same day.
Easy in and out

Convenient to the interstate and restaurants. It's Motel 6, but you still get a microwave and fridge, which is great. They also provide cereal in the a.m. and sell popcorn for a buck in the lobby. The staff was helpful and the parking is also convenient. They did have laundry facilities, too.
