Decided to book this hotel instead of the all inclusive, as I wanted to experience the real Jamaica. My room had an unbelievable view with a spacious veranda. The place was immaculate and the staff was so welcoming. Reggae music playing at the bar was perfect after some of the best snorkeling and swimming around. Also took a boat ride for some sightseeing, just ask front desk to set it up for you. For sure I will be back!

I stayed at this hotel. It's over 90 minutes from the airport. The front desk is wonder; actually all the staff was great. They lacked food services especially the complimentary breakfast. I thought it was a joke. Please update the food menus!

This is a much delayed review of my stay at Moxon’s Beach Club in Ocho Rios. I was born in Jamaica and hadn’t been back in over 25 years, so it was wonderful to go back with my adult son for my brother’s wedding. Unlike most of my family I had to carefully plan for expenses for both my son and myself. I researched various accommodations and decided to see if Groupon had any travel deals listed. It was there that I discovered Moxon’s Beach club. The pictures showed a very warm and inviting small villa-like hotel – perfect for a small wedding party or those of us that prefer not to be in a crowded resort. Not to mention the rooms were so affordable I was able to book 2 for four nights.
Even before I packed for the trip the guest attendants would respond to any and all questions I sent via Expedia and they didn’t disappoint when I arrived either. Moxon’s is pretty tricky to spot from the road and people don’t seem to be that familiar with it – which does lend itself to a lot of privacy. Our rooms were spacious and each had a small refrigerator and really good AC. Now the rooms and furniture are not fancy and that was fine with us. Who goes to Jamaica to lounge in a room? Anyway once we ventured around to the outdoor dining area and bar and met some of the staff we knew we were where we belonged. The bartender, Oshane and the hostess I believe her name was Melody or Melanie (my apologies) were so engaging that we found ourselves looking for them most evenings. Every person associated with this place is both professional and warm. If the front of Moxon’s is somewhat non-descript, then the back is like a secret beachside cove. It’s not a place to swim in the ocean and it is a place to see amazing views of the water, ships and boats that pass by – and sometimes stop for their passengers to enjoy the ocean.
I can honestly say this is at the top of my list of my best places to stay. I look forward to going back next year and this time I’ll be sure to join the neighborhood block party.

This beach club is a true gem. It is built on the side of a cliff and the view is spectacular. We were always in sight of the sea..The service was very personal. One morning it rained and a staff member came to our room with an umbrella. It stopped raining before we could use it. And the chef actually came to our table and asked how we wanted our meals prepared. My wife and I had never eaten steamed fish. It was delicious. We will come back, that's for sure.

I visit Jamaica at least 10 times a year, and I try to stay at a different hotel each time. But I may have to become a regular at Moxons Beach Club. This is the real deal: an elegant and serene oasis 8 miles east of Ochi, clinging to a cliff above a crystalline aquamarine lagoon, just far enough off the beaten path to qualify as undiscovered.
From the time you enter the unassuming gate, strewn with bougainvillea, your senses are assaulted by the awesome tranquility of the place. This is a true boutique hotel, charming and unique, with an intimate feel and a European vibe. (I kept expecting to see European jet-setters disembarking from their speedboats!)
If you, like me, detest the slick and sterile luxury of the all-inclusives, this is the antidote!
Be sure to get an ocean-view room. Waking up with that view is practically mandatory!
Be aware, their restaurant is temporarily closed (scheduled to reopen in August), but I hardly minded. The restaurant down the road serves top-notch Ja food (absurdly cheap), and delivers with amazingly un-Caribbean promptness.
