Very well located little bungalow in fort kochi. I liked how simply it was done up. Perhaps the owners should maintain it spittle better so they minimise wastage of water and electricity on their end.
Closed upon arrival with no notice

When we arrived we found the hotel was closed. We had received no prior communication informing us of this, meaning we had to hastily rearrange alternative accommodation at an extra cost.
Obviously didn't get to actually experience the hotel itself, but would not recommend based on the fact that they didn't consider it necessary to let us know that we wouldn't be able to stay, despite having already paid for two nights in advance.
Homestay Experience

We visited Kochi to kick off our tour of Kerala and booked Napier House for a night's stay.
Well surely my wife felt the property a bit gloomy but there is an altogether a different experience of living in an old colonial home.
The property is located nearby the beach but is hidden within alleys. We had good breakfast in the morning but there is nothing to explore in this property. Hot water is not available in all the rooms (at least not in ours) and we had to take bath upstairs. The hotel manager was kind enough to allow us the extra room for bathing.
No other complaints but its an extremely cost effective way of spending a night in Kochi.
Living in an almost 200 year old Dutch Bungalow was a 'historical' experience.

I visited Kochi for an extended weekend and decided to do a home stay instead of a hotel. After much research, I zeroed in on Napier House since the information about the hotel appeared interesting. I was fascinated about staying in an old Dutch Bungalow and I am happy I didn't regret the decision. The House is located at Napier Street which forms a part of the Fort Kochi locality. It has a host of upmarket restaurants next door including Fab India and a Waffle House. I managed to get myself a Deluxe Room that came with a double bed and a single one. The room was clean with wooden flooring. The television was basic and other amenities included a built in mini fridge and a dresser. The room opened up to a beautiful balcony overlooking the street. The bathroom was clean but could do with some more cleaning. It has a beautiful handmade bath area regretfully it wasn't scrubbed clean. The other amenities, although basic, were clean. They served complimentary breakfast at a open balcony area on the first floor so enjoying breakfast was peaceful. The staff was superb and very hospitable. I felt really secure and at "home" with them.
