Incredible food at a great local pub

Finding this gem on our holiday is such a blessing. Great atmosphere, nicely furnished, car parking and beer garden. Bar area very dog friendly and serves same food as the restaurant section. This is a traditional friendly village pub serving really great food, reasonably priced, in a charming off the beaten track village called Halse, not far from Taunton. Easy drive to / from Dunster and surrounding area. If you really want to find a great old fashioned pub with modern amenities and great service then this is it. They have no idea how good they are!
Great experience

Although slightly biased as a local to the pub, the management under Alan, Tracey, and Annette create a great country pub. Having recently changed the opening hours to a summer opening time its great for me to go for a cycle during the morning and get there for a pint and some food at lunch time. If you haven't been to the New Inn for a while its well worth a visit either at lunch or the evening.

The New Inn is a warm and welcoming pub situated in a beautiful village called Halse. Overall this was a very pleasant way to spend a Sunday. Although busy the food was fantastic and the service was second to none. During our short visit for a Sunday lunch we felt at home thanks to the bar manager Annette who not only provided top service but also with a smile. The food was well above our expectations and apparently this was due to a new chef. We will be sure to visit again!

A very disappointing episode. My good friend and I arrived expecting a very pleasant country pub meal. The place was tatty - old and tired - both inside and outside. They had no chicken so when I ordered Moroccan Chicken I was told that the chicken hadn't been delivered! A group of 10 people had booked and just arrived and so we were told we'd have to wait at least half an hour for our meal. A very negative experience. We moved on to somewhere else and had a delicious meal.
