we visited kashmir in October2015 but could not write review. the good experience we had in jacquline heritage houseboat is compelling me now
it was very dark that night at 7 pm we checked in this boat with lot of apprehension.
the apprehension was obvious because of the atmosphere in kashmir. we were safely transferred from the ferry point by the shikhara boat for free. we were welcomed by mr wasim and other staff with a hot cup of kahwa( kashmiri tea made of kashmiri tea leaves, almonds, saffron and cardamom) it was exhilarating.
later we checked into a suite (reminiscent of a kings/queens). all the basic needs such as hot quilts. neat bed and clean toilet were met.
we spent a relaxing night that day
next day we were to check out for gulmarg.we were served with delicious vegetarian breakfast and the spread was memorable. our prepaid sims dont work in kashmir( only post paid and BSNL postpaid work there) no need to fret!! mr wasim gave his phone and we used it extensively to call our family and the driver to take us to gulmarg.
the send off was warm and invigorating
the views from the nigeen lake ( not dal ) which is more calm and clean is breath taking
shop for shawls and saffron on the boat only if you are satisfied with the genuineness.
a great place to stay
great people to interact
great state KASHMIR
salute to the people of kashmir for their forbearance, their innocence, their magnanimity and their die hard attributes
I look foward to visiting this SWITZERLAND OF INDIA AGAIN AND AGAIN
More than a houseboat you will feel it's your own house

Beautiful stay with amazing hosts.
This is the best place to stay at during your stay in Srinagar. I picked Nigeen lake over Dal lake to have some serenity away from the vibrant floating market, and I wasn't disappointed.
Maqsood bhai and his son made sure our stay was comfortable and nothing was missing. You get picked up by a shikara from the bank of the river then you enjoy your first ride over the serene lake. I arrived before check in time, and yet they managed to have my room ready in no time while I was greeted by kahwa and ginger cookies.
During my stay, I didn't worry about anything and everything was taken care of. I can't wait to visit Srinagar again and stay at New jacquline again.
Couldn't be happier

Do yourself a favour: if you're thinking about Kashmir - do it. If you're wondering where to stay or who to trek with - look no further. My partner and I stayed in the beautiful houseboats for a few days either side of a 7 day trek with the same family who run both endeavours. Nageen lake is so much nicer than Dal and you can see why so many of the TA reviews for these boats in particular are positive. The family who run it are into their 3rd generation of doing so and couldn't be lovelier. The effort that they and their employees go to in order to make your time in Srinagar as delightful as possible is simply breathtaking. Special mention to Maqsood and his sons Sami and Aamir who made us feel part of their family and to Akbar and Mana who could not be more perfect gentlemen to deal with.
In addition to the houseboats the family and their impressive array of local helpers organised and executed a 7 day thru-hike in the Kashmiri Himalayas within 24 hours of our expression of interest, despite the fact that every other agency we spoke to informed us it was far too late in the season for such things (the weather was perfect btw). It was an experience we will remember forever. 7 days without seeing another soul with all our food and equipment taken care of and our English-speaking guide none other than Aamir, the younger son of the owning family. I cannot accurately convey in words how delighted I have been with every aspect of our time with the family and I heartedly recommend anyone to take advantage of their remarkable hospitality, knowledge and efficacy. I will be back as soon as practically possible. If I could give 10 stars out of 5 I would.
NO REGRET!

Located in Nigeen lake which is much better choice with less crowd and pollution in case any of you are torn between the 2 lakes. The houseboat is very comfy with serene view you can just sit and chill all day taking the best view and freshest air. The service is remarkable. They serve homemade Kashmiri food you would never get sick of everyday. So far the only place I would want to revisit..five stars!! And this is from one of the difficult customers like me. No regret for those who choose.
Great Experience

We visited Srinagar this August and stayed in this houseboat for a night. The houseboat is beautiful and well maintained. Staff is warm and very accommodating. Owner accommodated all our requests and the staff went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. If you are looking for a pleasant stay in Srinagar, this place is highly recommended.
