Great expectations but disappointing

The place has some sure charm with its quirky colonial decoration, its stuffed tiger and old style furniture, but unfortunately our stay was not as great as we expected. For once we paid more than usual on our trip, thinking that it was worth the extra buck (we didn't check well on Internet before though, and ended up paying more than what you can find online... so be sure to book before showing up). The main issue with our stay was that the second evening electricity didn't work properly and we had to fall asleep without AC and play pool in the dark with our headlight... It sounds like a harsh complain but the pool table in the nice living room was actually one of the reasons we decided to stay at this hotel even if it was a bit above our budget... When we complained we were told that it was not their fault (okay that can happen, but usually in good hotels you have a generator in case of blackout). At check-out I expected at least some apologies and some reduction of price given that we didn't have AC (obviously AC is a strong factor on room prices) but they didn't show any will of understanding our disappointment and said that AC restarted during the night so it was ok (actually we prefer to have AC in the evening and then turn it off later in the night to not end up too cold, which happened to us).
We had dinner there, which was nice but not particularly great. You seat at one table with other guests (which is fine for us, but maybe not for everyone). However we were served 30 minutes later than we asked for (they said it was because they had to fetch a dessert we ordered, but they could have served us the meal and do that in the meantime... I think it was rather to wait for the other guests who had ordered their meal later). The mutton was delicious, but the chicken was bland (just grilled with barely any spice and no sauce). It seems that when you order not so hot food in India the cook simply remove all spices and thus all taste.
Overall what could have been an awesome stay was just average and a bit overpriced. No big deal but no heart winner.
Partly special partly stuffy

Lovely decorated like they al tell you.
Very kind and good service , wonderful shower, this is enough to go there realy !!
But , if your keen on sunlight and fresh air
Do not take the rooms on the grond Floor ( in the back of the living ) i felt not comfortable , smelling the dust and humid
Like in a hole. But there are more rooms so go there and enjoy the lovely breakfast.
Great Surprise

We ended up going here on a whim and it really payed off. Very interesting boutique hotel with eclectic decor. Possibly the best shower I had during my two weeks in India, which felt like heaven at the time. It's a little ways away from the tourist spots of Jodhpur, but since we had a driver this was no issue at all. The service was great and the owner was very accommodating.
Two days in Jodhpur

Home sweet home... Amazing place in Jodhpur with lovely rooms and a fabulous cooker... Enjoy! No noices during the night. A quiet family home near the center of the city. You will appreciate the decorations, the little terrasse, and the smile of the people around you.

Pros: Courteous staff (despite check in at midnight, was served with bread and butter on request)..clean rooms, and big bathrooms..
Cons: furniture in the rooms and bathroom fittings are very old and gives a feeling of a haunted place..tea and toast were served cold in the morning..
Conclusion: not suited for couples..suitable for bachelors looking for rooms at ~1500 to 2000 for a night only. However better choices are available at the same price range...
