Nice Tourist Class

Had lunch and breakfast here. It is a clean modern hotel outside of the center areas and quiet. Our bed was nice, room clean, shower OK, nothing amazing but certainly fine for the stay. Staff were pleasant.
Fantastic stay with wonderful staff

My fiancee and I had the most wonderful stay at this hotel. The rooms are comfortable and the staff is so friendly and attentive. The highlight was undoubtedly Jessica who works the hotel breakfast. Always willing to make the effort to get anything we wanted when be it fresh eggs and bacon, fresh coffee or anything else we wanted with a personal touch. She even made a special dessert for my birthday and sang happy birthday to me. Thank you for making our stay so nice! Can't recommend this place enlugh.
Loud dogs barking day & night, weak AC, must have a car, beautiful balcony views

After reading all the 1,2 and 3 star reviews of this hotel I will comment on them and our stay July 19-24, 2017.
-you MUST have a car to stay here - it is a long way from the old town where tourists want to go (only a 5-min drive, 2.6 km, but would be an unpleasant walk, especially in summer heat, hills, no sidewalk). A car is really essential in general to travel in Sicily, public transportation is very limited. If you are visiting Caltigirone for a few days only, I would recommend staying in the old town instead -- that is what you are coming to see so why stay outside of it? There are many small B&Bs in the old town. We were here for several weeks for an opera program and stayed at NH for part of the time before staying in the old town. Not sure why reviewers had trouble finding it - it's the tallest landmark around after the hospital next door. Driving towards it the wall has an "NH" sign to turn in.
-no longer any camouflage army trucks, but the Carabinieri (military police) stay at this hotel so lots of their vehicles parked there. They were mostly out of uniform so we didn't really notice them much.
-pool was wonderful - cool and refreshing
-by American standards this hotel is old, worn and needs renovation. By Sicilian / Italian standards it is fine and is the only "fancy" hotel in town if that is what you want instead of a B&B in the old town. Our room was pretty nice - lots of nice tile decoration in the famous local style (bed headboard, bathroom mirror, lamp, wall lamp). Bed was firm but comfortable. Beautiful bathroom. Carpet is old and on stairs is visibly worn, but hey, it's Sicily. For the 69 euros per night (including breakfast) we paid we were very satisfied.
-good free breakfast buffet, lots of items, scrambled eggs were always old and grey but they will make you fresh ones which are very good. They will bring you cappuccino also.
Never tried the restaurant - expensive for the town, and the bar was never open.
-AC in the room was a problem - the first day I spoke to staff several times and had someone come up because I thought it wasn't working, it never cooled down. By evening however it did barely enough to sleep. After a few days we realized that it works but is weak, and it automatically shuts off from about 1200-1800. In the night it was cool but going to bed it was never quite cool enough. We left it on high the entire time to compensate for the forced shut off in the afternoon. It was often cool enough to have the huge patio doors open but the dogs barking (see below) meant we couldn't sleep with them open which would have been nice.
-DOGS!!!!!! We had a 4th-floor room on the good view side - a beautiful view of the old town in the distance, with a nice huge balcony with table and chairs. Great place to sit. We were room 416 right next to the elevator at the street end of the building. Right below at the neighboring house was a very large loud dog that barked randomly night and day. Barked until 0200, woke us up at 0600-0700. With earplugs and a very loud white noise phone app we slept fine mostly but the dog was very annoying. The next house over had 4 large dogs also but they only barked a bit. We considered trying to switch to a room on the pool side of the building but when at the pool we heard another loud dog over that way so it's just a general problem around the hotel. At least ask for a room down at the far end of the hall away from the elevator side of the building.
I would not recommend this hotel just for the dogs alone.
-free wifi worked well generally
excellent price-value, very kind staff

Absolutely recommendable, very kind staff, great view from the room, the kitchen prepared us salads though not within opening hours, we were offered sparkling wine and a city trip. We will absolutely come back!
Old fashioned Italian kindness and hospitality

Nothing is too much trouble for the staff here. The reception staff were unfailingly courteous and helpful. I was late for a local meeting - they drove me there themselves ! The restaurant staff, particulary Catherina and Salvatore, treated us like family. They even cooked off-menu for us. Sure, the decor is a little tired in places. But the rooms themselves are spacious, comfortable and well-serviced. The pool is beautiful: well-looked after by the lifeguard, and really clean. I was in Sicily for 6 weeks altogether, and chose to return to this hotel four times in all, the last time for a fortnight's stay. Choice at breakfast is really good; and they were extra-accomodating with mild latecomers and special requests. I enjoyed numerous evening meals in the restaurant, and also very good room service to my specific requests. But, to repeat, by far the main asset to this hotel are the charming, cheerful and humorous staff, who could not do enough for me.
