Luxury in a quite village

Hotel located in a sleepy little village 5 minutes drive from the ferry dock on the island of Ameland. The staff were very helpful at check-in. English no problem. The room was stylish and immaculate. Bed was very comfortable and the room exceptionally quiet.
A real wonderful place in paradise

Ameland Island is one of my favourites in the Wadden Isl. along with Terschelling. Ballum is a small beautiful village with lots of possibilities for walking, bike and horse riding and wandering on the beach. Main town Nes and harbor are barely 10min by bus. The hotel is perfect, amazing and large rooms and comfy beds in a very quiet place. Every room at ground level has a little private yard and the upper ones have a small private terrace. The staff is perfectly polite and available. The restaurant is delightful and the food a real enchantment. They've got an outside bar very comfy too and super cosy even when it's raining! I've been totally thrilled by this place and would go back with great pleasure.
Evening sun on the terrace in a very quiet village

Ballum is a quaint village in Ameland. If you are looking for peace and quiet, here you will find it.
We had booked the Loggia Suite for our two night stay. The room was spacious, had an Illy machine and water cooker for tea, and a big fridge, where you could also store your own groceries (no cooking facilities though). A Spar supermarket was just a couple of hundred meters away, with good choices of also many local products.
We first got Loggia Suite no 46, but there you watch the roof of neighbouring building from your balcony, and the hotel staff goes out to smoke downstairs below. Luckily they were able to change us to the suite no 47 instead, opposite the hallway, with views of the parking lot instead, and sun during the day. Otherwise, both rooms were identical.
Some reviewers have complained about noise. Luckily at least the Loggia Suites are on top floor, and end of the corridor, so we were fortunate not to hear anything from other hotel guests. According to one staff member, this hotel caters more for young adults and senior couples, who are looking for a quiet stay.
The room itself seemed newer than the bathroom (or at least the styles were not matching). A minor thing was that there was only one towel per person, which would surely have been rectified had we asked for a second one. And as another reviewer wrote, the towels were very thin.
We rented e-bikes thru the hotel, which were of good quality. First time ever we used e-bikes, and it was handy at times when it got windier. We biked around the entire island, beautiful routes, good for biking. It was about 18 km to bike to the most Eastern point Oerd when driving along the beach side, about 6 km to Nes (7 km to the ferry terminal), and 4 km to Hollum.
The evening upon arrival we ate at their restaurant. The carpaccio and caprese as starters, the seabass and steak as main courses, were tasty, accompanied by a good wine selection. Second evening, having already eaten whilst biking during the day, we went for a lighter option, with selection of snacks and starters. The kipspiesjes were really not to our liking though, very mushy and not much meat on the sticks. That was a bummer. Other than that, the atmosphere on the terrace was great, with the late evening sun. Also the breakfast was versatile at the hotel.
Upon departure (we had our car with us), the ferries were 1.5 hrs behind schedule, so please remember this may occur, especially if you have other obligations later during the day, or a flight to catch from Schiphol.
If coming back to the island, we would stay at Nobel again, but would probably opt for a Church Suite instead, as they looked nice, located on various floors, with more amenities.

Very adequate, nicely located, all amenities are there. Great for venturing out on the island, as most of the attractions are walkable. Ballum is also an interesting town with a fascinating history. Great restaurant, also. Breakfast is just so-so...
