DO NOT STAY HERE! DISGUSTING....
This is by far the worst hotel I have ever been to, and that includes Bali....I would prefer to stay in a third world country hotel than this disgusting dump. Upon arrival, staff was rude, had to pay an extras $20 for parking (which I have never had to do anywhere else in the past) and or room was filthy. Coffee rings on the bench, which obviously hadn't even been wiped, dish cloth to clean with was filthy, mold in and around the shower, dirt under couch cushions that stood out because cushions would move upon sitting on them.
To top it off, after leaving and checking out of the hotel which we didn't complain about because I wanted to simply enjoy my birthday in the cbd, they call and say they are going to charge me $200 extras because they believed that the room smelt of smoke ($150). We did NOT smoke in the room but they believe it doesn't matter and we should have had the door shut and lent over the 1m square balcony! They also believed that I needed to pay $50 for a towel that had water based spray tan on it which washes out without effort.
I can see now where they make their money to keep running as it's definitely NOT from repeat customers.
more shabby then chic

stayed her for 4 days we booked as we had been traveling for a while and decided that a serviced apartment would be better then a hotel. The apartment was more a bedsit very small and in need of some serious updating, the furniture was very old and beaten up the T.V didn't work properly and you had to pay for WI-FI which is ridiculous in this day and age. the bathroom was bed linen were clean so that was something.
the hotel is in a good position not far from the Queen Victoria Market which has fantastic food market. The Tram run's just at the bottom of the road from the hotel so it's easy to get round.
Meh

Stayed in a single room. On the first night my blinds didn't close, had to fix them myself. Shower area is tiny. The room isn't too bad, my biggest problem was with the customer service. Staff at the front desk on check in was friendly but the after hours guy could barely understand what any of my friends or I were saying (and we're from Adelaide).
Room service staff were not friendly in any way, always seemed to talk to you like they were mad at you. Pretty disappointed that I was told it was alright to check out at 12 and then at 11.30 I had a knock on my door and the house keeping staff said I'll have to pay an extra $40 because I'm leaving at 12 and not 10am.
Location was very very convenient but I would choose somewhere else if the price wasn't an option because of customer service
average needs updating; not happy to pay $10 for internet access

I will give a good rating of 3-stars of this hotel. The floor size is fair, all the basic needs are in the room. But most of the pieces of furniture have lots of scratches and stain that needs updating. I requested for a room that is isolated far from the busy road and was glad it was granted that's why we slept well. There seemed to be lots of long-term/permanent residents that few of them don't bother to lock their door and could hear them talking and the constant comings/goings. No free internet. It'll cost $10 for 24 hours access. Overall, the price of this hotel is reasonable considering that it's in the heart of Melbourne CBD and easy access to all public transportations.
Good value, but nothing special

I stayed with my sisters for a weekend. The price and location was very good for us, near the Queen Vic markets, walking distance to Lygon St, quite a few good Malay and Chinese restuarts within minutes and one *really* good Spanish restaurant *(Simply Spanish). Not far fro the train stations or trams, so you can easily get around as well, and if you are using the kitchenette, there are also grocery stores a few blocks away.
But this is a budget hotel for Melbourne CBD, so dont expect too much from the rooms. I was satisfied with the apartment for the price, but the carpets, some of the furniture and wall paints etc, is all in dire need of a makeover - there are a fair few stains, tears etc. It was kept clean, and linens were fine, but the place is old and very tired.
When we checked in, we got very helpful advice from the reception, Im sorry I didn't get his name - he gave us a lot of advice on correct train lines, and transport cards, we were really happy with his advice and friendliness.
I'd stay again if budget was an issue, but probably somewhere lese if I was less constrained.
