We booked last minute as our previous hotel had caught fire. We got upgraded to a suite so had a bedroom etc.
great cocktails in the lobby. Staff were really friendly and we really liked the location of the hotel. Easy access to cafes, restaurants, bars and shopping. Taxis and trams right out front.
Would stay again for Melbourne Cup week again for sure.

Location is handy to many Collins st locations. Staff friendly and available but the main let down here is facilities and maintenance. Whilst our room was clean the bed is tiny; a/c is loud and we had a terrible time sleeping. Lucky we face the city not the courtyard so we are getting some nice afternoon sun. Hallways look quite drab with patchy paintwork. $20 buffet breakfast is expensive; I prefer going out for a proper cooked breakfast.

If in Melbourne to shop this hotel is very central. We found it good for strolling to restaurants as well. The rooms are very adequate and bathrooms equipped. Reception is friendly and the bar busy. Small pool with towels and also small gymnasium.

We had a luck for price offer so I suppose it was definitely worth it. No matter where I went in the world Novotel somehow always keep it alright. Location is good a lot of possibilities around. Shopping or just having a good time in all those restaurants and cafes.

Would have rated higher but the extortion that was the most price drops it down by two notches .... I get supply and demand pricing but at least Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask. Room ( junior suite ) was large and functional but furnished and finished pretty basically. Air-con was good but noisy.
Plus points - Nespresso Coffee machine and imitation Eames chair and Ottoman
Downside - aside from the price ... basic decor and amenities
Think I might struggle to come back ....
