I stayed 3 nights at the Novotel in downtown Ottawa. I was in town for a hockey tournament. We found the rooms to be very small. They also only have DOUBLE beds in their basic guest rooms. For any family of more than 2 people, this does not work. The pillows were quite small and the bed comfort was OK, just too small. There was no room to put a roll away bed. The closet was extremely tiny and almost useless. The bathroom was OK with the exception that it had frosted glass on the door so the light shines through into the guest room when using the bathroom at night. The lighting was also too bright in the bathroom with no way to turn off some lights while keeping others on. Positive things: location, nice big TV, nice towels, makeup mirro, good water pressure, check-in/check-out very easy. I would not stay there again. I would prefer Les Suites next door which offers huge guest rooms.

The hotel is located in the heart of downtown Ottawa. We were 2 minutes from the Rideau Centre, 5 minutes from the Byward market, Sparks street and the Parliament buildings. The room was clean and bright. We had a king bed and a pull out couch which we didn’t need. The room could have used a table for our luggage.

This hotel has a great downtown location right across from a large shopping mall and a few step from the Byward market. The room are large and modern and the beds very comfortable. Definitely recommended.

We were staying at this Hotel for the Canada Day long weekend and unfortunately our experience wasn’t so great!
Customer service is key when it comes to Hotels!! Keep in mind they charge a pretty penny so a good customer service is definitely expected!!
After a 5 hour journey we arrived at the hotel and right of the get-go we didn’t know what to do! No Bell boys, No staff at the entrance to tell you what to do, here we were with our big SUV and 10 luggage and not knowing what to do...
So one of us walked in to the hotel and spoke to the front desk staff who told us to bring in our own luggage (without any help) and drive around back to park our car!
They told us to follow the signs and the hotel parking and elevator is on the lower levels!!!
So after unloading the truck we drove around back and at no time any of the staff told us “If you are driving a big SUV” make sure to park only on the first floor as the ceiling on the lower levels will be too low and it will destroy your car”
Well here we are driving into the second level following the parking signs for the hotel and noticed the ceiling is about to rip off our roof rack! So I ended up reversing a 8 passenger SUV out of the parking lot and into the main level!
So we go to check in and of course the customer service staff are inexperienced ... No Greetings , No Warm Welcomes! Pretty much “Hi , Credit Card please”
They couldn’t find our booking (3 Rooms) and after 15 minutes they finally found it!! My credit card got swiped 3 times and got charged 3 times so master card blocked my card thinking it’s a Fraudulent attempt! Of course front desk didn’t feel like it was their problems and just said “ops sorry”... we figured you are paying for all 3 rooms but here is the funny part! they still charged my other two friends for their rooms so we got charged 5 times for 3 rooms!!!
The rooms are okay... nothing fantastic ...
to be honest After the awful customer service we kind of fell out of love with the entire place!!
Not coming back or would ever recommend anyone to stay there!!

We were looking for somewhere in the city centre which was also close to Univ. of Ottowa. This was perfect. We stayed here twice, at the start and again at the end of our trip to Canada. The staff were really helpful with the local info we needed, and were also quick to respond to a lightbulb needing changed and a blocked sink (a previous guest must have put something down it!?!). The 2 rooms we had were really comfortable for the 3 of us on the trip. Breakfast was included and was excellent; the staff were a little stretched on one day probably due to a large wedding party and we had to wait for a table but all was well.
We would definitely stay again.
