What People are saying

Not worth the money.

joe b on 14/03/2017 21:41

Been staying at hostels but needed a rest so booked this hotel. 20-30 mins from la Paz seen as it says it had a pool and good wifi. The worst thing for me was the wifi is terrible. Hardly works. The rooms are cold. Heaters take hours to heat up the rooms. Only positives is the beds are comfortable and the shower was hot apart from that nothing to do here. Pools dirty and spa is too old and disguising to go in. For me te most annoying thing was the lack of wifi anywhere as I had things to organize. Was meant to stay for 3 nights but stayed for 2

Hotel Oberland

We stayed there for 4 nights as part of a group of 4x4's travelling from Peru. The hotel is very nice and run by a Swiss family. Nice and clean. One advantage is that it is in a part of town called Mallasa on the South side which is MUCH lower than the city center, so it is much better for sleeping. Buffet breakfasts were very good and the food in the restaurant each evening was well cooked and tasteful.

Overprized and not as good as you may think

Rapha D on 22/03/2016 04:34

Expensive and overpriced. Even a water cost 3 times normal price. Beds are horrible, shower is hot or cold (noting in middle). Not trust fully owner... Even a simple print cost 2.5bolivianos. Ah... And Internet is not usable! Poor breakfast. Never again

curious place, ideal for overlanders

Daniel E on 10/02/2016 14:59

I certainly wouldn't have expected a quintessentially Swiss hotel near La Paz. As other reviewers have noted, the place ain't cheap, but it is ideal for overlanders who are allowed to park--and use the hotel's very clean bathrooms and showers--for 60 Bol. per night. Breakfast buffet is optional; it offers a variety of fruit and breads, as well as fresh ground bean coffee (hard to come by en route) and juices. The owner is very personable and helpful, and the staff are all friendly and professional. I had two dinners in the restaurant (fondue the first night and the cheese platter for the second), both were comparably expensive but excellent. Last but not least, US$2 for a glass of local wine is definitely a reason to celebrate!

Only ate lunch here

Travelfan on 17/12/2015 22:09

I was with a small tour group, and we had a delightful buffet lunch in the gardens of the hotel. I do not even know if this particular lunch is available to the public, but there appears to be at least one full-service restaurant called Luna Restaurant. We found the service to be very good, and the small buffet to be quite tasty, with a beef and chicken entree, plus several sides. It is a Swiss-themed hotel, and that is reflected in their extensive beer menu. Very close to Valley of the Moon and a few miles from downtown La Paz. If the weather is nice, eating in the garden area is a real treat.
