Great little B&B

Run by lovely friendly couple Barbara and Martin. Traditional coach house dated back 1700, room is very good size for 2, comfy, good decor relevant to the age of the property, excellent breakfast and very happy.

Quick Stop Over

We normally stay in one of the large hotel chains for any nights away where you can guarantee a good nights sleep, so was slightly apprehensive, but was pleasantly surprised.

We picked this hotel as we were consdering on moving to the local area so wanted to spend the evening in the village so that we could assess a couple of things.

We were given a warm welcome by the owners and shown to our room that was in the lodge just across the road from the main building.

It was very comfortable, clean and had added extras such as bottles of water in the room, toiletries etc etc.

The breakfast was just as good with plenty on offer and again with a friendly service.

I see that previous comments have remarked on it being very noisy, and let me tell you from someone that lives in the hectic south east, this hotel was bliss, OK, you did have some road noise but this did not stop us getting a good nights sleep, and we had the window open! I think it depends what you are use to.

We would certainly recommend this hotel, as good as the main hotel chain competitors in this price range.

Last week I drove up Lincolnshire for the Airshow at Scampton and to visit family. I stayed at The Old Coach House Motel for four nights during my stay. It was a perfect resting place , after a long journey. The owners Martyn and Barbara ,were the perfect hosts. My room was large ,and very comfortable, and the bed gave a perfect sleep. The breakfasts each morning were delicious, and an endless supply of toast if needed . the evening meals were superb, and the selection of good beers was worth the tasting . Martyn was very helpful in giving locations to visit ,and places of interest ,including a local brewery that had an amazing restaurant , and guided tour . I shall certainly be visiting the Old Coach House again, and would recommend it to all who want Home from Home Alan Curtis Normandy .France

OK but very noisy

We booked this accommodation at short notice and relied on a quick look at previous reviews. Have to say we were disappointed by the lack of sleep. We hardly slept all night. The motel is situated on a bend in a road which to look at on a map would seem to be a rural road running through a village. But, traffic, including HGVs, is going along that road all night. We live between an A road main dual carriage way into a city and a main village road so we are used to traffic going past the front and back of our house all the time but the noise at the motel kept us awake. Admittedly we had the windows open but the room was very hot so our choice was to hear the noise or to be too hot.

Another problem with noise was that everything seemed to creak. The floor creaked, the bed creaked when you moved and even the toilet went with a bump when you sat on it and got up. It made us very self conscious of moving about the room for fear of disturbing guests in the neighbouring rooms. That said, it didn't bother the guests in the next room banging around at 5am but as we weren't asleep it hardly mattered anyway.

The room itself was compact which was fine for one night for the price. There was a TV, the usual tea and coffee facilities and free wifi. The en suite was fine with a decent shower. We found the bed and the pillows hard but that's personal preference.

Toiletries were provided including, my wife says, make up removing pads which she felt was a nice touch.

We didn't have an evening meal but breakfast was nice enough and the lady and gent we saw when booking in and at breakfast were both very pleasant.

We wouldn't return because of the traffic noise and the feeling that we hardly dare move around the room because of all the creaking. We are always quiet in hotels anyway out of respect for other guests but not feeling as though you can move is a bit too much.

If you are a heavy sleeper and aren't too worried about a creaky room then it's a nice enough place with welcoming and pleasant people.

2 night break

This B and B was just what was needed, it was used for base for 2 nights along with my partner when we were at a wedding at woodhall spa. Although very simplistic, the room was ample size with a lovely bed and ensuite and had everything you would expect from a room. It offered great value for money and the breakfast is the morning was much needed after a night at a wedding. The staff were great also. I definitely recommend this B and B to anyone.
