Everyone was so kind and met your every need, answered every question, and always with a smile. The rooms are incredible. Gorgeously furnished and impeccably clean. You wouldn't have to leave the room but there is so much to see and do in beautiful Bayfield and the Apostle Islands. Can't wait to go back!
Unique beautiful Bayfield and Old Rittenhouse Inn/Chateau

We loved The Chateau, we had the turret room although were given a few other choices, which was nice!
The turret room oozes charm, incredible view of the lake, clean and friendly staff.
Although the mattress on the bed might need upgrading, after 3 nights it was a little uncomfortable.
Perhaps a small stereo system would be a lovely added amenity as well.
Loved having a kitchen and fridge available to us at all times, a beautiful welcoming place to stay!
A just because getaway

When we arrived to check in we were asked if we would like an upgrade to room 9. Yes, we were intrigued as we made a reservation to be in room 1 which has a beautiful view but no fireplace. She informed us there would be no additional charge! The attention we were given was so kind and warm. We have been going here for the past 20+ years and always makes us smile. Thanks again.
Perfect in every way

It was our first trip to the Bayfield area. A friend had recommended the Apostle Islands as an area we would love and they were correct. We chose the Old Rittenhouse because we love Victorian homes. We were not disappointed. We stayed at the original property on Rittenhouse Ave. The house itself is meticulously maintained. What a treat and joy to behold in all it's 1890's splendor. I didn't notice anything out of place or in need of any maintenance. We were greeted warmly by a staff member, and even though we arrived close to her quitting time, she took the time to make us feel very welcome. She refused any tip for carrying my wife's bags up 3 flights of stairs, only saying it was her pleasure. The room (#11) was breathtaking. Total luxury and class, again clean and inviting like the house itself. Whirlpool tub, wet bar, steam shower, huge comfortable bed, window seats, balcony, fireplace, just absolutely first class accommodations. The included breakfast was terrific. Huge. Wonderfully prepared, 2 course each of the 4 mornings we were there. We didn't need to eat again until dinner. The wait staff was again, friendly and accommodating, giving us tips on where to go and what to see while we were in town. We ate dinner only one of the four nights at the Inn and it was fabulous. Our waiter was Mark, the owner, who grew up in the house. My wife and I enjoyed talking with him over the course of the evening, getting some of the history of the house and of his family's adventures transforming it into Wisconsin's first bed and breakfast. Turns out, the room we were staying in had been his parents bedroom. We were made to feel special, valued and very welcome at the Rittenhouse. Our first trip to the Apostle Islands will definitely not be our last, and we hope to return to the Old Rittenhouse soon!
Wonderful Victorian Home and Great Desserts

Our motor coach had dessert reservations at this site. The desserts were wonderful, especially the Panna cotta, and we all enjoyed the tour and the history of this beautiful home. So elegant and so beautifully restored, all in the correct time period. A fun and very tasty stop in Bayfield.
