Wow is this place great. Welcoming. Comfortable. Excellent food. Comfortable rooms. Beautiful location. It's not inexpensive but it is worth every NZ penny. We stayed two nights and would have been happy never to leave. Drinks and nibbles before dinner with the general manager outside by the stone fireplace were a delightful way to pass the time between sightseeing and dinner in the main dining room. Breakfasts were excellent. Staying here is like being a guest in a lovely private country home - particularly in the sense of feeling welcome and cared for. Fast wi-fi too. I would give it more stars if I could.

Marlborough Lodge is a wonderful spot in one of the historic wine regions of New Zealand. What a beautiful property with ponds and walking paths that truly exemplify this region of New Zealand. The property is a relocated covent and has been renovated to bring out all the old charm that this building inately had and still reveals. Peter, the manager, takes the time with his guests to explain the beautiful artwork on the walls and the history of the property. Location is not very far from the airport and takes you through lush countryside and vineyards. Room we stayed in was nicely sized and had all the amenities one could desire.

Wonderfully friendly and warm staff from general manager Peter White to Lisa and the wait staff, Ben and Jess! This is a secluded country home that feels like your own. You are surrounded by lovely gardens and vineyards and the food shines as well. Peter invites guests to join him for wine and canapés in the great room or by the outside stone fireplace before dinner. Rooms are very comfortable and the bathrooms have very modern fixtures. Wanted to stay longer!

This lodge does not have the sparkling false glitz of some other well known establishments. But it has the subtle charm that speaks of elegance, and everything being just right. A classic example is the fact that the radio in our room was working as we walked in: never had any radio work in any hotel.
The greeting by Peter and the relaxed introduction to the Lodge is a welcome relief from fast paced travel. The well appointed rooms and the beautiful grounds add to a relaxed time.
Make sure you have a wine & canapés before dinner outside at wood fire, if only to break the bonds of structure and housing. Unwind & talk to other guest.
The breakfasts and dinners are superb and the Chef requires praise. Wine list is wonderful. A beautiful place in a magnificent area, but make sure you stay more than one night.

We spent 5 glorious days [and nights] at the Lodge back last July to celebrate our 49th wedding anniversary.
We were made to feel so special and so pampered we wondered if it was a dream!
Everything was perfect, food divine and it was sad to leave.
Many thanks to everyone involved in making our stay magic.
