What People are saying

3 Nights Was Enough

Elly Won 22/11/2017 12:25

We stayed at the Old Woolstore Apartments for a function that was at the Hotel Grand Chancellor. The hotel itself was pretty cool and we stayed in a studio room (room 800-and-something). The noise from the people above was annoying at times and it definitely wasn’t sound proof but the bed was comfy and the blackout curtains were nice for a sleep in.

The on site restaurant doesn’t have a lot of variety in terms of dinner meals but I did have the porterhouse steak which was DELICIOUS. Couldn’t fault it. The buffet breakfast in the morning was also pretty nice and nothing ever ran out or didn’t taste fresh. I liked that you could order an actual coffee instead of the normal coffee in urns and they charge it to your tab.

We got free wifi but it was shockingly slow so barely used it. Couldn’t even load web pages to do some work on the laptop while I was there so don’t rely too heavily on the wifi if you need to use it for important and quick work things. They do have an internet kiosk thing downstairs but I didn’t use it so I can’t comment on whether the internet was just as slow.

For what it is, I probably wouldn’t choose to stay there again for the price they charged but I didn’t have to worry about that since it was a work trip! Hogs Breath restaurant is literally right across the road and so is a bottle shop - those got me through the three whole days 😉

2 Night Stay

We booked a 2 night stay this time and we had a much larger room. Level 2 very quiet room, nicely airconditioned. Quick and easy access in and out. We had a cooked breakfast one morning in the Restaurant which was very nice, the Toaster had been turned to high heat and a lot of toast was cremated. The Bar was good on Saturday night for drinks to start with and Irish Coffees later on. We like the Woolstore because is easy access to most other venues etc.

Good central location

Large comfortable apartments in the centre of Hobart made this a pleasant stay. Car park available.
There are good facilities in the Old Woolstore and free wi fi, with the option of a decent breakfast.
Restaurant offers evening dining with generous portions of standard fare.

Central location, cheap parking & clean rooms

Ilovetottavelon 10/11/2017 09:19

We stayed in room 1010 and paid $171 on hotels.com. It was a studio room with a king bed, lounge and dining area for 2 people. It came with a fully equiped kitchenette (fridge, sink, cook top, microwave and dishwasher). In the bathroom with a washing machine and dryer with an included small satchel of washing powder which was convenient. Our room also had a small balcony facing south of Macquarie Street. It had a small window off the kitchenette which you could see a slight glimpse of the water. Directly across the road is Hogs Breath cafe which has a large variety of meals including vegetarian and vegan options. There is a restaurant downstairs of the hotel but I found it to be quite pricey. The rooms and common areas have wifi but it does tend to be slow. The Hobart airport is 15mins drive or $30 in an uber. Overall the room was great, it’s clean central and parking was $10 in the secured grounds.

Great location & apartment was perfect

Roaming_Nicsteron 07/11/2017 05:47

Business trip with a colleague & 2 bedroom apartment was just what we needed. The kitchen was well equipped and with good quality cutlery / crockery etc. Dishwasher made life easier and unlike many similar places, there was sufficient crockery to be able to use it and not have to wash up along the way anyway.

The bathroom was huuuge and having a bath to soak away the stress of the day was great. A second toilet and basin was ideal for sharing with colleague.

Location was great for conference across the road at the Grand Chancellor, and fish and chips at the wharf.

My only criticism is that the bed was pretty awful... I don't think of myself as being particularly fussy about beds but this one sunk pretty badly in people shapes on both sides. I was there alone but there would certainly not be any cuddling in the middle going on, without rolling either way.

I'd stay again
