i stayed there for 3N with my son and wife, family of 3 , Except of the lift and the floor confusion ,,but that i will not call confusion but would rather add to say its a matter of understanding since the hotel has five floors under the mountain and four floors above the mountain
Food and breakfast best of the kind i had in munnar ( i had two three dinners and three breakfast), which you look for away from home, of course some flooring needs to be replaced and some toiletries needs to be updated like shaving kit was not included in toiletries
over all good hotel
munnar-orchid highlands-excellent

This property is a so called 4 star property but does not deserve even 1 star. This place is pathetic and right from the beginning till end they have managed to spoil customer experience effortlessly. Location and built of this property is bad.
1. The moment you are about to get to your room the lift is the most confusing thing. 6th floor is labelled as ground floor and so on and so forth. Every single customer is struggling with lift leading to utmost chaos and delays.
2. They also have deluxe rooms in basement and the window has view of wall with bushes. They gave us that room however changed it when we strongly resisted. We got room on 7th floor but again the view was restricted.
3. Bedsheets or pillows or comforter nothing seem to have been changed by the hotel. It all looked used by the previous occupant. Infact the bathroom towel also did not appear fresh. Sick!
4. Bathroom has no hand towels consequently for 2 days. Had to ask for it one day and next day when they cleaned room they just didn't bother to put another one. Hand towel holder is there though!! For what...god knows!
5. Washbasin tap-when you raise the flap of the tap the water is all over you. Don't understand who was the genius to put huge tap and a small basin. Toiletries were poor. Looked cheap with no branding. The bathroom knob wasn't working either. Had to tell the staff to fix it but twice people came to check the same thing however no body bothered on it.
6. Coming to the food. They are a 4 star hotel however no where they have filter coffee or even black coffee. Staff was all confused. Breakfast was average. No option of preparing your own tea or coffee. The tap of the coffee container was broken. The toaster machine was also not maintained. For dinner we ordered Chettinad chicken after waiting for 20 mins they served us cold food. Wonder what took them so long to serve cold food!! They admitted they served us buffet gravy. Also, one manager agreed to give us ice tea the other manager comes and says they don't have it.
7. Except reception, the rest of the staff does not understand English hence you will end up waiting for your things as they don't understand English and too shy to check what you need. You will only struggle with this hotel.
Will never recommend this hotel to anyone. Please stay away there are better properties that you can stay in.
Horrible "4 Star" hotel in Munnar

Stayed here with my spouse and it turned out to be quite a distasteful experience. Right from the first touch point to several experiences - all were just not right. We booked a deluxe room with hill view months ago and the hotel staff took us to some dingy room with an 8 ft wall in front of it. When questioned he replied that they would like to give the room they allocated to us initially to a group which is due to arrive later that evening. --flabbergasted. Upon objecting , the room we were promised at the time of booking was given.
Tip -1. Don't be gullible
The lifts suck. There is no rhyme or logic to the floor numbers. Floor 0 is the reception and the floor above is floor 7. The floor below reception is 1. Floors 5,4,3 2, are below the road level.
Tip-2.. insist for a room higher the reception (only if you still want to stay after reading this review )
Restaurant sucks big time. Service is horrendous. 1. Half the things on menu are not available. But this won't be informed you when you place your order. Another item will be brought to you and when you correct them, they say oh, the item you ordered is not available.
2. They conveniently serve stale cold food. We ordered a chicken chettinad and we were informed it will take 25 minutes as we prepare fresh. Okay, good. 25 minutes later, room temperature food comes as against normally piping hot should have come. Reason cited- cool weather sir, so food gets cold quickly. Once again flabbergasted.
Tip-3 if you still plan to stay after reading this review, eat out.
Plus there is no bar at the hotel.
At the breakfast, we decided to sit facing the valley. The glass pane had black spiderwebs- showing that windows had not been cleaned in ages.
They claim to have 4 stars - in my opinion they don't deserve a single star.
