Its a home stay and not a hotel. We had been here with family. Rooms are good and clean. Also breakfast provided was very delicious.
Will recommend making the booking by directly calling the owner. Its cheaper and owner preference. Great value for money

Cozy and wonderful stay. Very helpful and friendly hostess, who gives good advice about local habits, eating places and for sightseeing. Nice and clean rooms. Very good home-made food. Peaceful neighborhood. Small garden and fountain in the front yard. Looking back to our trip to India, this hotel and hostess is one of the best memories from India

It was a family trip, although it bit difficult to locate but we had a great stay with family. Rooms are spacious, clean & comfortable & we felt like home. I would recommend my friends to stay there .

We were a group of 8 who had visited Udaipur for 5 days ending on New Year's day 2014 and had quite a memorable time here.
Most notable positives:
1. Spacious, neat rooms with good bedding, elegant non obstrusive decor
2. Green leafy neighbourhood, not very far away from Lake Pichola (10 min ride by auto rickshaws which were available at a 2 min walk). Hotel Lal Bagh was a 5 min walk for any quick meals we needed.
3. Helpful caretaker and staff, who provided us with a functional breakfast (cereal, toast, omelettes, coffee and tea). They also had a good knowledge of local sights
The not so great aspect: A mess up in our room bookings - we were given 1 room lesser, despite having a phone confirmation, on account of double booking with some other guests! (we had requested multiple times for a mail confirmation of the booking, but never got one despite having paid the advance before we arrived). This resulted in some uncomfortable conversations with the caretaker and we managed only since a couple of our friends had to leave earlier than planned.
However, except for this issue, we had a good time overall. Mr. Hanwant Singh who ran the place was quite knowledgeable about local sights.
Tip for travellers: Since this is more of a home stay, the rooms are all of different sizes ranging from very small to very spacious (but they all cost the same!!!). Put in a word to Ms. Hemant Kumari, especially if you a larger group planning to share fewer rooms and hope for the best.
Best place to stay in Udaipur

Pahuna Haveli was an amazing place to stay... Not only was it reasonably priced but the accommodations were fantastic. The bedroom was extremely spacious, clean and had AC as well as fans. Moreover, breakfast was delicious both morning. Beyond the fantastic accommodations, the best part of staying in Pahuna Haveli was getting to know its owner, Hanwant Singh. He is incredibly kind and interesting man who is more than happy to have lengthy discussions with over meals and tea. If you stay here, I really recommend getting to know him. He will also provide great itineraries for your days with many great sites to see. This is definitely the place to stay if you are in Udaipur.
