Our room in this pleasant hotel was not large but quite comfortable despite the bed being on the firm side and a few scuffs on the carpet. The spacious public areas, however, were generously furnished akin to what you might expect from a four star hotel and breakfast was good.
Although our room overlooked the street there was no noise at night.
If I remember correctly when we checked in a group was checking out and on leaving another large group was expected and for me groups tend to be associated with unwanted noise.
Our stay was pleasant enough, the young lady at reception was particularly helpful and the price pushed my rating from good to very good in terms of value for money.

after having been at this place at least four times, the last visit was unbareable. and they rpped us off with non chalance. i paid in cash, not checking the official euro-forint rate, which admittedly was my mistake, and due to the rate of the hotel got charged 20% more than the regular price in forint. when i asked at reception if i could have my cash money back and pay with credit card instead, a young shy girl at the reception couldn't give me an answer. she had to ask a senior colleague, who was in the back office, hidden behind a door, and told me through the closed door, never showing himself, that i could not change my payment into cash, because i had paid already (on a friday night), and talking with the manager wouldn't make any difference. and if i wanted to talk to the manager, i should come back in 1/2 hour. but it would be useless. all this long quarrel took at least 10 minutes, while the receptionist never emerged from his room, and kept talking in his unfriendly, arrogant way through the closed door. i never actually saw him.
we visit sopron every year, because it is a very charming place, and the last 4-5 times we always stayed at palatinus, because the position is very convenient. but after this experience, never again. the rooms are small, the bedsheets too small, the carpet in every room filthy, and the breakfast is eastern block style, like 30 years ago. but the worst is being given the sensation that they can rip you off without even looking you into your face.

The most centre of Sopron
Reservation and confirmation was made without any problem. We have a late arrival; the staff was very friendly and helpful. I tried to get a place for my car in the hotel courtyard but it was full. Finally we find place on the square Széchenyi tér, at the weekends it is free of charge. Between squares Széchenyi tér and Petöfi tér you can find a deep garage. There you have to pay a charge about 300 HUF (less than 1 EUR) per hour.
Satisfaction with the room, only the carpet was scuffed a bit. Furniture, bed linen, etc. - without remark. Bathroom was well equipped and clean. Breakfast was with large choice, fresh foods, bread, vegetables, and fruits. No elevator in the hotel but we had a room in the 1st floor.
Ideal for tourism, hotel is in the historical centre, you can reach all interesting places by foot in few minutes.

We spent 3 nights there at the time of Volt Festival. The room was fine, and clean with fresh towels. It didn't have a refrigerator nor a hair dryer what we missed. Breakfast was good and rich. It was a good point that we could have it till 11am because of Volt Festival. The staff was very kind.

At first the good experiences.
The room and the bath were both extremely clean in a very good way.
This hotel is a little familiar place just good for a few days for a couple or a little family. The staff is very nice and helpful. ☺
Now what I did not liked so much. The breakfast was not as good as I 've expected.
The bed was a bit hard although I could get used to it. The air was very dry in the room. But all in all I liked the place.
