Underwhelming stay for an overwhelming site

The Good: the concept of bungalows spread around in the botanic garden like atmosphere with monkeys and ginormous lizards roaming around. I liked that fact that many local women worked on site and I was initially thrilled to see that then my brain went overdrive questioning the motives of the owners: do they pay the women similar wages than the men? Was this a conscious decision or an accidental one that was economically sound? At least it avoided displacement of rural women, rural exodus so to speak. To be followed.
The not so good: construction around the clock. Staff mage up of aloof youth and indifferent managers. No cohesion or coherence in their work with the guests. You feel somewhat lost roaming around in this construction site. Additionally the main building are just a bad idea, huge wanna be castles trying to recapture the former glory of anuradhapura? Have no idea, just very unwelcoming. The rooms are great.
The excellent: The ayurvedic center on the premises is FANTASTIC! Really authentic treatments. I have received treatment in other places in Sri Lanka and the massage and oil treatment here were wonderful.
So overall, it was meehh for me.
Food quality needs improving

We stayed for 1 night and would have stayed more if the food quality was better. Amazing setting, rooms good, staff attentive, lovely pool and welcome. Its sad to see the quality of food at the resturant was not better. There are no other resturants near by without driving. As a tourist we would even pay a little more for better quality food. Suggest management go and eat a meal at Lords in Negombo or Chill at Ella and you will see were the tourist go and why. We stayed at some top of the range places in Sri Lanka and the food was excellent.
Average experience with great garden view for nature lover

Located at prime area, it offers great garden / jungle-like experience which will be a treat for nature lovers and who wish to stay on a jungle like area. Its very quite, green and huge. Extreme back of the property is like a lagoon / water body and you could enjoy a view but should be very careful with a caution and watch over animals. Rooms are good and spacious, but very old and have no wifi. Monkeys will be constantly at the roof / nearby your rooms and on the trees. Service is very slow and food is very average. Rooms are very secluded from reception area and hence unless you are a natural lover and had zero fear of darkness, jungle like atmosphere in night and monkeys, never select rooms very far from the reception.
Very pretty Place to stay

Stayed here one night and the deluxe cottage was lovely,
Little sitting area with fridge and TV, plenty of room for suitcases. Pool area good you could swim and watch the monkeys in the trees. Take a torch to light the way back to your room. There is a water hole at the edge of the property that wild life come to in the evening. We didn't see the elephants that time but very peaceful.
Went on a safari from there Wilpattu National park really worth it as the terrain is different from other parks.
The packed breakfast they gave us to take as we left early was disgusting, mainly just huge pieces of bread with sliced cheese
Apple and water. If we had known we could perhaps have ordered something from the restaurant that night and put it in our fridge,
I would stay there again though as so peaceful, they are upgrading the entrance area and quite grand. Staff were very good
Some improvements

The hotel is nice and ideally located in a natural setting but some improvements in terms of customers service and for example amenities.some events or activities would also help to make the resort more lively.
