I've visited Palmers Lodge now twice - and I couldn't love it more! I've stayed both times in the 10 person dorms, and I find it absolutely astounding how peaceful they are! The beds are sturdy, made of wood and have curtains allowing you a bit of privacy.
They have a good bit or storage space: some under your bed - where I could fit my cabin sized luggage even when I opened it for easy access - and some extra lockers you can rent for your valuables if needed.
The kitchen is small but okay, the food in the bar is nice, and the lounge area is comfortable. The building itself is historical, interesting and absolutely stunning. Staff has always been helpful and very friendly. Wifi works soundly. There is also Swiss Cottage Tube, Starbucks, McDonald's, Superdrug and a few other stores just down the road (5min walk or less) making it an easy place to stay in (like, I know that McD is not exactly an experience, but it's cheap).

Booking into a youth hostel in central London at the weekend, I wasn't particularly confident about a getting a good night's sleep! But actually, the whole atmosphere was calm, quiet and respectful even in the public spaces. The hostel was also immaculately clean with friendly staff.

It's been almost 4 years since the first time i stayed at Plm's , and i keep using it every 45 days due to my work visit to town.
I'ts probably the best Hostel i've know and this is why i'll only write the worst things i've seen (very few):
-Major problem still being the Hot days. The hostel it's not prepared fot it. You almost melt when temp rises 30ºC.
-The music at the pub still being too loud at dinner. For those like me whom like to enjoy quiet dinner , this moment use to be not the best.
-The diference between some rooms : some beds are piece of art , whit confortable light, curtains, shelve to place your phone (alarm) and books. And then tehere are just beds whitout any of this things.
-Underground floor tends to be cold most of the year.
-Kitchen for selfcooking could be improoved as it stills small and busy.
Still , i repeat, it's the best hostel i've seen.

Everything was really good for the price, great location, very nice house, very good breakfast in a nice room. The only annoying thing has been the total disrespect of guests for people sleeping. I was in a women only 12 beds dormitory, and girls were coming in and out at whatever time of night letting the door bang shut, rearranging their staff in their paper or plastic bags, be it 2 or 5 am. I was totally amazed at the lack of attention to the fact that the rooms are shared !!!

I liked the warm and welcoming style in which the lodge is furnished. It is very pleasant staying in the big room on the ground floor even without communicating with anybody. The staff were friendly, helpful and laid back.
