This would be a place that is OK for a back packer or hiker who does not care about amenities. It is in a lovely location (once you get there) with lots of hiking trails and three restaurants right next to it. To get there, you have to take the Funicular up to the only getting-off place and then call the hotel and they will send someone to get you. Or you can pay 45 Euros if you can find a cab that will take you up the mountain. OK so now you are there and the nice man takes you to your room. I. Have. Never. Uncomfortable queen bed with a bottom sheet and two twin size comforters. They gave us two bath towels, one hand towel and zero washcloths. The shower was full of black mold. The wall paint and vinyl tile floors were peeling. The heat was supplied by some sort of wall mounted heater that came on sporadically. None of this was mentioned in the book that gave it three stars. The breakfast was OK and the owners were very nice. They recently made the inn eco-friendly. How nice. Better it had been customer friendly.

We recently stayed there for our wedding anniversary. It's away from the hussle and bussle of Como, though we had not expected to need a cable car up to the hotel.
We arrived at Como San Giovanni railway station and the cab ride was going to cost 45€. We phoned the hotel to check and he told us to walk across Como to the cable car and call him when we arrived and he would pick us up. The walk across Como was 10/15 minutes, but a lovely walk at that.
The rooms were basic, but clean with a lovely view. For the prices that most hotels are charging in then it would be hard to expect much more. It seemed like a family run hotel, and each of the people working there were very friendly. Unfortunately it was too cold for the pool, but we spend most of the time in Como itself in any case as we were short on time.
Each time we wanted to go or be picked up from the cable car, we would ask (or phone) and promptly taken or collected which was a great service and free.
Breakfast was pleasant and the views were fantastic!

We didn't stay here we just stopped in here for a drink on our way back from visiting the lighthouse, we were welcomed warmly and enjoyed what was probably the best view available of Lake Como.

What a paradise and hidden gem of a hotel away from the hustle and bustle of Como but near enough to be a perfect base to make sight-seeing easy! We were welcomed by such a wonderful family and enjoyed our lovely room with a fabulous lake view.
We loved this hotel so much we never left the three days we stayed, just took in the wonderful surroundings.

We just spent 4 nights at this hotel and we couldn't be happier especially with its location.The view from the terrace is absolutely amazing. Surrounding area is very quite so you can relax without any problem. There is a hairpin bend road that leads from Como to Brunate so you have to be very careful when driving. Be aware that this road is definitely not for beginner drivers! Breakfast were also good, with a wide variety of homemade food. There is a nice restaurant opposite from hotel where they serve great pizza, salads and other Italian specialties at affordable prices.
