The hotel is good standard but nothing extraordinary. Next time I will choose something else.
Receptionist were nice, all spoke basic English. Obviously they have mostly Spanish speaking guests.
The room was a little bit oldish, but clean. Bathroom was clean and spacious.
Breakfast was good, wide range of fresh food, choices of warm dishes however VERY limited.
The access to the sea seems to be complicated- check it if important for you (it was quite cold during my stay and the doors outside were locked).
Supermarket right opposite the hotel is a great option for having water, fruit, nice wine....

Benicarlo was the first Parador on our trip along the Mediterranean coast. Although Benicarlo itself doesn't have a lot to offer for us it it a good place to stay and visit surrounding interesting sites.
The hotel service was good as was the breakfast. There was some wear and tear visible in the bathroom. Especially the door and some tiles were damaged.
The Wifi speed was lousy. This is not unto standard for a 4 star hotel.

As someone else it is hard to see what separates this parador from a seaside hotel. A bit faded. Also as someone else has noted the double bed is very small. We had booked a superior room but the bed was tiny. Moreover the room smelt of cigarettes. We complained but it was hard work to get a different room and we had to be quite assertive. The new room had twin beds which was better but it hadn't been cleaned properly. On the plus side the parking was easy and the bar tapas good with nice friendly staff. But the reception staff were a bit formal. The breakfast was good and we were able to eat on the terrace. So on the whole a mixed bag

Some hotels make you feel good as soon as you walk in: this is one of them. Thoughtfully furnished and decorated in pastelly earth tones, the lounges are welcoming, our superior room comfortable, with a big terrace and an enormous bathroom, having two showers for some reason. We ate a la carte twice and enjoyed it. The buffet looked wonderful, but we found the lighter meals on the terrace just as much to our taste. Very big, beautifully-kept grounds, giving on to an attractive small park and busy beach, backed by a range of small bar/restaurants.
Special mention to the staff, but particularly to the human dynamo lady who looked after the lounge and bar area, and to our chambermaids: all were wonderfully cheerful and efficient. Kudos also to the manager who, unlike many in his profession, was happy to be seen about the hotel and greeting his guests.
In honesty, Benicarló has little touristic interest: but the Parador more than makes up for it.

The Parador is a 2 story hotel in a U shape facing the Mediterranean Sea. All the bedrooms have balconies either overlooking the well maintained garden and large swimming pool, or overlooking the min-golf & tennis court area. They also all have sea views. There is a secure gate at the bottom of the garden which leads out to the coastal walking area, with a short 100 yards walk to the sandy beach. It has a total of 88 bedrooms. We found our bedroom was very roomy & comfortable. We did not have an evening meal in the hotel, mainly due to the large choice of restaurants in walking distance, especially near the harbour. We would definitely use this hotel again, and really enjoyed our 1 night stopover.
