Tempted by a free breakfast that never materialised and unhelpful receptionist
Petchkon 13/06/2017 21:51The hotel is magnificent, hence not cheap. I did not mind spending good money as I was tempted by the free breakfast from the Amigos card. That turned to disappointment when the breakfast could not be claimed due to issues with the Amigos card website and a receptionist who was not interested in helping.
Need more staff
reigatebevon 09/06/2017 18:30The hotel is beautiful, set on top of a hill with views all over Jaen. The bedrooms are a decent size and cool. Some reviewers have said they are dark, but they have the Spanish style shutters with 6 panels so you can open as many as you want to let as much light in as you want., and they all have a little balcony with table and chairs.The food in the restaurant is good as it is in the cafeteria. The wifi didn't work in the bedrooms but ok in the foyer. There is a lovely pool area set in landscape gardens.My issue with this hotel is I don't think they have enough staff. In the restaurant there were 50 diners and 2 waitress who were running around trying to take orders, collect plates and deliver meals. When the waitress came to give us new cutlery for the next course she literally threw my spoon down before she hurried off to her next task. I had to ask 3 times for olive oil. The same in reception, 5 couples waiting and only 1 person on the desk. Nevertheless the young boy on reception and the elder of the two waitresses were very cheerful and helpful. When complaining about the standard of this parador, I think people should remember that it is half the price you would normally expect to pay. If they could get the staffing sorted out I would give it 5 stars.
Paradore with a fantastic view.
900jameswilliambon 07/06/2017 14:20From the moment we went through the door to the moment we left it was joy to stay at this Paradore,the staff/rooms/food and location could not be better but especially the view from our room was superb, getting to this Paradore can be a pain if you follow you sat nav directions just stick to the main roads.
Outstanding views
941GloMon 27/05/2017 15:48Absolutely loved staying in this castle. We were touring Andalusia and included Jaen in our route. The staff were really helpful, we arrived earlier than check in but they gave us a room. I would have given the castle an "excellent" if the swimming pool had been open. After a long drive to get there we were so looking forward to a swim. It was 28 degrees.....when we asked why the pool wasn't open they said it wasn't summer yet.

Aliceband979on 27/05/2017 08:23I agree with almost all previous contributor (Jacky) except our air con worked perfectly. We had previously visited Carmona and Córdoba paradors who had both opened their pools early for the convenience of their guests, so we're very disappointed to find that the pool wasn't open. We didn't eat here but took a taxi (@9€) into Jaen both nights (see my review of Panaceite). Breakfast our first morning was amazing in the variety of fruit, meats, cooked food etc, what a contrast then to our second morning with much reduced choice and the only hot food was one plate of 6 fried eggs brought in by the chef! Pity as the location is excellent and the young man on reception was so helpful
