Great kitchen, great waiters, great rooms, maids need work
MontJeffon 04/01/2014 21:17The Park des Dolomites is one of those old ladies of the era of great hotels. It has a great kitchen with a reasonably priced prix fixe menu. The rooms are comfortable. Best of all, the wait staff (Daniele, Fabio, and Stephania) are wonderful. Friendly, efficient, and very hard working. The staff at the front desk are great, although we sometimes struggled with language differences. We stayed over the New Year and were treated to a low-key, fun, celebration of sparkling wine, fireworks, and dancing. Two things are lacking. The maid service is poor. One day we need towels. The next we need soap. The third we need glasses. I have this vision of maids' houses hoarding all three. The second shortcoming is wi-fi. Available only in the lobby and lounge, it is very, very slow. But this may be a plus if you want to get away. All the ski hills are accessible by vehicle from the hotel and the ski bus stops out front.
Below expectations but friendly and helpful service
S-Sendlingon 01/01/2013 20:58Having searched in vain for accommodation in Cortina, we were delighted to stumble accross what looked like a luxurious 4 star newly renovated hotel near Cortina. On the evening of our arrival, we were greeted by friendly and helpful staff, though communication was a little strained due to our lack of knowledge of Italian. The restaurant offered a set menu, the food was satisfactory. The room was spacious and warm with a new central heating system. The bathroom could have had proper cups as opposed to plastic cups which were not changed once used. Unfortunately the bathroom was not heated. The breakfast buffet was fit for a youth hostel with no variety and low quality ingredients. The location is theoretically 10 mins from Cortina but allow ca. 30 mins to an hour by car in high season. It is a shame there are no spa facilities which would be key given the far out location. Not worth the overpriced rooms, however this might be expected in the area. Renovation work could have made this historical hotel into something fit for a Prince with flair.
Overall:
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Basic spacious rooms
- Min. 30 mins to Cortina
- Substandard breakfast
- Satisfactory dinner
- Overpriced for what you get
Beautiful Hotel and great price
Ma_and_Moon 03/03/2012 01:42The hotel is very beautiful and spacious. located not too far from Cortina, the fanciest ski town in Italy. Recently renovated has nice simple rooms with beautiful views of the mountains surrounding. The breakfast was average but good for a budget hotel. The staff was not that friendly. Not too many choices in the restaurant's menu but good food.
Like other reviewers I advice the owner to build a SPA and provide Wi-Fi in the rooms
I suggest this hotel because it is like brand new, Beautiful, and the price its just great.
Totally worth it
NohaEon 22/01/2012 15:41The hotel is clean and staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet was mediocre. Make sure to locate the hotel before you go. It was a challenge for us even though we were using GPS.
