What People are saying

Very Dissapointed for our Honeymoon

mikefr0mnyc on 16/06/2017 22:32

We have been there before and enjoyed ourselves. My wife and I decided to go back for our honeymoon. Big mistake.

During check-in, I was told my first credit card did not work (for the deposit). So I gave a second card that did "work". Turns out they both worked and I had $600 holds placed on each card. The same person pointed us in the opposite direction (and floor) when showing us where our room was. After wandering around for ten minutes we realized our room was on the first floor - not second.

Ate at Norma's - Restaurant was not full. Waited about 30 minutes (possibly more) for our meal (one salad and one omelette). Our waiter proactively acknowledged the longer-than-normal wait, said the kitchen is backed up and apologized. When the meals came, my wife's salad had chicken on it instead of shrimp. When the server (he was not our main waiter) went to place my meal down the jam in the bread basket fell on my omelette and place mat. He apologized and just walked away.

Local Architecture Tour - We asked the Concierge for a recommendation for a local tour of mid-century homes. We went with her recommendation, reached out to the tour company and confirmed two seats for a tour on Sunday. The concierge raved about this tour and said the man had "keys to 3 houses" and we would be going in. The seats were $85 each. The tour guide showed up in a MINI VAN. No water provided for a 3 hour tour. I loaded two cameras and did not take one picture. The windows of the MINI VAN did not roll down. We never got out of the mini van the entire tour. He would stop the car and show us pictures of the inside of houses on his IPAD. I feel extremely ripped off by this. We gave the guy 2 $100 bills at the end just so we could get the hell out of there.

For our last night, we made reservations at Mr. Parkers. We showed up a little early and were the first people seated for the night. Literally EVERY OTHER TABLE is empty. For some strange reason, the hostess seats the next two guests at the table DIRECTLY NEXT TO US. Every other table. Empty. We asked our waiter to move us since EVERY TABLE is empty. He happily obliged. About ten minutes later a larger party with 3 or 4 young kids are seated directly next to us. The kids are immediately screaming, shining flashlights in our face and playing under the table. We got up and walked out before finishing the last dinner of our honeymoon. Someone from room service brought the rest of our meal to us. The restaurant manager called our room and offered us free champagne. No thank you. We are no longer in the mood to celebrate. She asked what she could do to fix the problem. My wife, who is now on our room phone and furious at our overall experience, said just comp the meal. The manager said she could not do that. So that was that.

Tub drain was also clogged the entire visit. Called multiple times to get it fixed. No response.

I wish it was different but this place has gone downhill since our first visit. I would not suggest paying a high price for their rooms when the service is severely lacking. Only bright spot was that we used points for the stay. We requested the points back so we could possibly give it another shot in the future. But they declined. We won't be back.

It's like being in Alice in Wonderland's stress dream!!

If you like to be treated like a disease-carrying garbage person after paying over $1,000 for a 2-night stay, book here now! This place has everything: rude staff members who stare at you as if you just asked them to drop trou when you just want an iron brought to your room. No iron in the room (?). No directions on how to call down to concierge from the strange, confusing phone (have fun dialing every button on the phone until you hit the only one that works!). No information about literally any redeeming hotel perks (don't even ASK about the free coffee they offer from 9-10am, they will literally cut you). $20 cocktails that are super delicious because they end up having no alcohol in them. Metal bocce balls that torch the skin off your hands after being in the sun for 2 minutes. They've got it all!

Highly recommend this place to sadomasochists, people who need to get rid of a lot of illegally obtained cash, and anyone who could make over $3,000,000 from the cute Instagram you'd get there. Fun!

Absolutely terrible

After a long Friday drive to get to the Parker, we were greeted by a windowless room. That's right. They gave us a room with NO windows. The windows they had were basically boarded up, or as they called them "fog windows." After realizing we had been totally ripped off, we went back to the front desk to change the room or obtain a discount. When neither would be provided, we asked to cancel the reservation and get our money back. Rudely, they explained to us that we would be charged the full rate for the night.

I am totally disgusted by this place. Why give guests a windowless room and charge them good money for it? This place is a total rip off. IF you decide to go to this dump MAKE SURE you don't get a room with "fog windows." What a total rip!!!!

Still "Groovy" after all these years!

You either like it or you don't...there's never an in between with this hotel. I have friends in both camps. I love it! Always a celeb on hand...this time it was Kelsey grammer and his beautiful family. The rooms have had a bit of a refresh...new beds and headboards and the bathroom cabinets are new with cool fish faucets! Service is always impeccable and the grounds are lovely. And the best bath products of any hotel anywhere! The hotel is always populated with interesting people and the interiors are Jonathan Adler chic. I had a quick stay this time and it was very nice. I was surprised the big pool was a little unkept and the pool area was a little dusty dirty as were the hotel hallways which was surprising. Small dings in an otherwise excellent stay and property. Thanks Parker Palm Springs!

Way down hill...with a rude, inattentive staff.

My 3 friends and I spent over $12,000 this past weekend at The Parker. What does that get you? Here's a list: inattentive, dismissive staff. A dinner reservation made 3 weeks in advance delayed an hour, with no explanation or offer of compensation. Tree trimming and lawn mowing at 8:15 AM on a Sunday morning outside your $575-a-night suite, and a rude, disinterested front desk staff asking you to "relax" while they deal with it. A $160 cancellation fee charged to your card for a cancelled reservation at Norma's, their mediocre, overbooked, understaffed restaurant. A site manager named Jackie Vega who did her best to add a frustrated huff-and-puff to every single question, doesn't return phone calls, isn't adept at managing her front desk staff - let alone an entire property - and clearly doesn't care if the hotel retains a customer who has been with them for over 10 years. I won't be back to The Parker, and you shouldn't either.
