Problem with payment

miklisleon 30/10/2017 11:45

The hotel itself was o.k. -clean and fairly comfortable but as it was the last week of the season it was very quiet [ 6 or 7 guests] .We were given an "apartment style" room which had a good bathroom but was rather cool at night. We had booked for 4 nights through an agency. On arrival we were told by the manager/owner that we had to pay in cash as the card machine was not available.I was not happy with this as this was not in the booking conditions and the exchange rate at local ATMs is appalling. This caused a strained atmosphere throughout our stay. Breakfast was average but not particularly pleasant as the owner sat at his desk in the dining room as the guests ate. We decided to cut our stay down to 3 nights and return to the charming hotel we had used in Corfu Town. He still insisted on cash payment for 4 nights with a small discount. We were happy to leave. Perhaps this is a peaceful haven in high season but is not recommended in October and the payment situation I was landed with should be a warning to others.

Excellent clean hotel

We have been to Corfu several times over the years and this has got to be among the best. Lovely clean and well kept hotel. Family run. Costas was so friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend and go there again. If you want a quiet friendly atmosphere this is a place to go. Would recommend either a motorcycle or car if you want to explore the island. Several good restaurants within walking distance. Transfer is about 45mins from the airport. Excellent!!!

nice hotel in a beautiful quiet location

Kostas is a very good host a pleasant and kind man, the hotel is well kept and rooms are clean breakfast is good plenty to eat but they could do with a proper toaster. the area is quiet but enough tavernas and restaurants to enjoy delicious local food the area
itself is very beautiful and breathtaking walking alongside the sea looks surreal. recommend a short taxi ride into messongi only 15 euro for a change of scenery and liveliness no complaints from me a very positive experience.

Off the beaten track

We stayed for 5 nights at the Penelope Hotel's Boukari Beach Villa (owned by same family, Kostas et al) which has been well described by others. Very smartly fitted out, 3 units/rooms on the first floor, two larger apartments I think on the second floor (with much larger balconies and lying out chairs) and then 3 more single rooms on the third floor. All have direct sea views. First floor is convenient for getting in and out but top floor probably has more sun on the balconies.

Small kitchenettes inside (not really needed by us but with the essentials). As photos show building is straight across the main road in front so very easy access to sea (though a little traffic noise at times but much compensated by the lovely views (which I don't think the hotel has as up the hill and behind some trees). Lovely for swimming though bit tricky getting in and out over stones and gravel (they ought to put a ladder on their jetty) but Kostas suggested quiet sandy beach over on western side and that was great for days out. Half a dozen tavernas to chose from.

Further down the coast from Boukari is much the same (absolutely beautiful unspoilt bays) and quiet though again with only tiny beach access.

As people have said all the family seemed very pleasant and a delightful spot. Just very slightly marred as we were surprised on departure by an additional 'cleaning charge' of EU 30 which we had not spotted in their original confirmation (on top of the EU 70 per day which was in fact rather more than neighbouring places which also included breakfast).

But delightful spot and some of the smartest rooms and bathrooms we have stayed in, in Greece (but you should just check the full charges before you book) .

nice quiet hotel away from the masses

We had a GREAT vacation at this hotel ! Nice functional and clean rooms, a decent breakfast buffet and a wonderfull restaurant (a short walk along the beach ) where you can enjoy some great greek meals with a spectacuar view !
But maybe the greatest asset of this place is Kostas and his wonderfull family ! NOTHING was too much for them, and they did everything they could to make our stay unforgettable !
Thank you Kostas !!
If somebody does not enjoy, and feel at home at this hotel , they are probably even too dumb to go on holiday !
