First visit to Granada

Hotel was clean and very well sited in the centre of the city with easy access by foot to most places of interest and the bars and restaurants .Parking was in a garage (payed for as an extra 45 euros for three days .On the down side our room although a resonable size was a twin and we wanted a double had some other minus points .The bathroom was so small one person could just move around and use it but I have never seen such a small bathroom the TV was so high up you would have got a neck ache watching at and it was so old we were surprised it worked .There was a walk in wardrobe storage area which was quite large but needs a light as it was very dark .We felt the room was looking very old and tired .The desk staff were friendly and helpful but we did not get cleaned after our first day and had to go down for clean towels and ask to be cleaned next day ,which we were ,we got locked out one night when the guy on the desk went upstairs ,this was only for about 15 minutes but a bit of a scare at 2230 ..Overall we had a great time in Granada but was glad we spent as little time as possible in the hotel.
Good accommodation in a busy city

We stayed at the San Joaquin for two nights while walking the Camino Mozárabe. The number of tourists on the streets of Granada came as quick a shock for us after the small towns and villages through which we had been walking, as did the prices for accommodation. That said, we were pleased with the San Joaquin. Its location was ideal for us (only one block from the Camino de Santiago trail) and it was close to many cafes and restaurants. While our bedroom did not live up to the promise of the pension's beautiful patios, it was comfortable and clean.

We chose this hotel because we wanted a place full of character. It's 350 years old and was a count's summer house. Beautiful tiled courtyard. It was clean with a comfortable bed. Helpful front desk. Close to good cafes.
Terrible!

I know that 80 euros is a budget hotel but this hotel was the worst we have stayed at in Spain, including some at half that price. Previous reviews mention large rooms and a fridge so I assume we were unlucky. A small room, no fridge, very old and run down, door lock broken, very old tv doesnt work, toilet holder broken, large hole in bathroom floor with a rough fix with sticky tape, hand held shower bracket broken. Numerous cracks, windows dont close properly so very noisy, poor general maintenance, en-suite tiny, toilet so close to front wall its almost unusable, no where to hang towels, no fan in bathroom - I could go on but you get the drift.
Beautiful patio, big room, nice location

The room was very big, the bathroom had a nice bathtub and the bed was comfortable. There was a fridge in the room, which was great. The staff was nice. The patio area was beautifully decorated. The location was good, within walking distance to most of Granada's attractions and to the bus station (about a 40 minutes walk).
