Not a bad place

I am used to the Pestana brand. Usually they are nice "old-style" hotels. Pestana Rovuma follows the pattern.
While top hotels in Maputo are near the sea (close to Pestana neighborhood and Kenneth Kauanda St.), this hotel is located in the heart of the old downtown. During the day, no problems, but not recommended to go out walking during the night.
The cost/benefit is not bad.
While top hotels (5*) are around 180-200US$/night, this one costed about 96US$/night. Fair price.
It has a good and friendly staff.
Breakfast is quite good.
Rooms are bright and have space to work.
Its a typical business hotel... not the best for tourism.
I would say my greatest problem was internet access. Very bad! At the room, forget it, couldn't connect for more than 2 minutes without crashing (if you managed to connect).
At lobby and 2nd floor lounge, it was better, but still crashed from time to time.
So if you depend on the internet for some reason (ex. Work), think twice before coming here.
We heard the whole week they were having troubles with the ISP, but we know thats the typical excuse.
The pool area was ok, although the pool itself is more of a recreational pool (a large tub). So don't expect to go "lap swimming".
Gym was nice, cant complain.
Room views were nice looking towards the cathedral.
In summary, not a bad hotel at all.
There is a very nice cafe beside the hotel (Campo del mare), which helps in terms of food options (dancing on Thursday nights). Don't worry, by 22:15 its all over and wont mess up your sleep.
Beds were quite comfortable. Had a good sleep. Room and bathrooms were quite clean.

Anette Ton 16/04/2017 07:12We were a family of five and had big, connected rooms. We loved the atmosphere, the service and the food. It was close to everything and the staff also made oss nice picnick-bags when we had to leave early for safari.
City Hotel

The room was a good size but the furnishings were very tired and beds and pillows left a lot to be desired. Located in the city center, 20 minutes of so from the airport. Standard, run of the mill, downtown, business hotel...nothing very appealing about it at all but adequate.
Nice view to the city
Wavy Gon 16/01/2017 18:02Tidy rooms, nice and friendly staff, clean in general and comfortable beds. Its got a nice african ambience with a small bar and a large variety of drinks. The rooms offer safes, great beds and decent size tvs.
Great hotel in the centre of town
Katesgroveon 05/01/2017 19:16The hotel overlooks the cathederal and various government buildings in the centre of Maputo. We stayed for 3 nights. The room had been recently refurbished in a modern style and had a balcony. The bed was very comfortable, the wi fi was good and the bathroom was a good size with bath/shower. The buffet breakfast was good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We ate at the hotel and in a restaurant in walking distance.
