I initially booked a small double and then later added my husband to my booking, when we arrived, our lovely host had upgraded us to a larger room. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the facilities are excellent and include little extras such as fresh milk in the fridge for your tea and crockery and cutlery should you wish to eat in.
Breakfast was delicious and cooked at the time we chose (we were asked the previous evening) and we were given recommendations where to go for our evening meal, which was helpful. Great hosts and beautiful guest house.
Excellent in every way !!!!!

We booked Peterson Cottage as a stop off on our journey home from Devon.
We use booking.com a lot both for stays at home and abroad and Petherton Cottage caught our eye.
On arrival we were greeted by Marcus, who couldn't have made us more welcome, if we were personal friends. He took the time to show us the facilities on offer, which were excellent as well. The room was immaculate and had everything you could want, including tea/ coffee making facilities, wifi, smart TV and bottles of water. There was also a small kitchen area that we could use, that had a microwave, fridge and washing up facilities and he had even provided a fresh bottle of milk for tea, as well as the long life ones in the room. We had use of our own front door, so we didn't need to go through to the owners accommodation and there was use of the back garden too.
It was pouring with rain the night we stayed and they had even provided umbrellas for each room to use.
Marcus asked us for our breakfast order the night before and the time we would like to eat, to ensure it was cooked and ready for us.
The breakfast room was also immaculate and bright and the breakfast was fantastic too.
He even made me a vegetarian option, that was equally delicious!
The stay was fantastic and we couldn't recommend it enough.
On top of the great service we received I also have to say that I lost my glasses, I thought on the walk to the local pub.
The day after we got home I got a call from Marcus to say that another guest had found them. He not only posted them to me, which I got the following day, he also wouldn't let me pay for the postage.
To sum up then;
A truly brilliant place to stay, with exceptional customer service and attention to detail.
Do yourself a favour and book this place early, so you don't miss out!

Excellent stay at this b & b. The service was very good nothing was too much trouble, even had breakfast in our room a couple of mornings.
Room was very good, very big with a very large bed and very clean.
The road the cottage is on is quiet busy to get out onto if you hit morning and tea time traffic.
Would definitely stay here again.
Fantastic stay

I travelled to Petherton Cottage, just outside of Bournemouth, on Business.
Petherton Cottage had certainly looked pretty when I booked it on the Internet and I was happy it was only 2 miles from the business meeting that I had the next morning.
Convenience had been the order of the day, coupled with a business budget.
I have never written a review before but my one night had such a positive impact on my week that I felt I really should as people will be able to enjoy this welcoming guest house, like I did.
After a long journey, it was very welcoming to be greeted by name at the door by Marcus who showed me to my room and briefly explained what was what.
Marcus was very helpful and very welcoming.
The room (Twin) I stayed in was spacious, I exceptionally clean, well equipped (WiFi & Smart Tv), mini access via patio doors to a lovely outside space.
I was happy indeed - I then drove into Christchurch which took 10 mind on the express way (less than 1 mile from the accommodation). This was well worth the visit and I enjoyed some well earned fresh air before heading back.
A great nights sleep later, morning shower (in the enquire bathroom) later and I was tucking into my pre-ordered cooked breakfast at my chosen time of eating. The food was delicious in the very light and neat breakfast roommate.
Picturesque accommodation, Exceptional welcome, Exceptional room, Exceptional food and great value for money.
What was just meant to be business became very much business and pleasure and I am in no doubt I will venture to the South West with much more regularity in the future.
