Fantastic place! Peace and quiet

I'd like to share my oppinion concerning the hotel I stayed in for a week in October. "Philoxenia Hotel Malia" in Crete is a very nice, clean, quiet and has a very friendly and helpful staff. You get a feeling that you're in a family. The receptionist knows your name, always smiling, ready to answer all your questions. The chef is highly professioanal and always makes our dinners and breakafast very delicious and appetizing. The food both looks good and tastes appetizingly. The music in the bar is different varying from simple and very catchy local and national tunes up to modern pop compositions that become ear worms very soon and you can't but sing them on the way to the beach along the pomegranate trees that you can pick up and try:))
I strongly recommend this wonderful place for families with small kids, newlyweds, singles and, actually, everyone who enjoys good quality, friendly atmosphere and just fun at the seaside.

This month I was here in Crete at the Philoxenia hotel with my husband to spend our honeymoon here. It was a good choise, because the hotel was very confortable and the food was delicious. The prises are also acceptable for wath they are giving. The workers are so frendly. We enjoy the time spending here and we are coming back for sure.
Thank you!!
Great food and nice staff!

I've stayed in this hotel with my husband and two other couples in the beginning of July for 6 nights and we had a wonderful stay. What we all thought the best was by far the dinner food. The breakfast was varied and rich as well but you can expect to find the same things every morning. This is not a problem though if you stay for a week as there are still a lot of choices. Breakfast drinks were not so great (orange juice and coffee) so this can be improved. Dinner though was fabulous. The chef, Leo, is a master. There was a different menu every evening and a lot of choices of delicious food.
The hotel itself is a family hotel and this was good for us as we also came to rest on this holiday. It is far enough from the noisy pubs and clubs in the main street so having a good night's sleep was not a problem. The hotel is located close to the main beach and to the main street. The bar in front of the hotel had a good selection of drinks.
The wi-fi was free only in the public areas but as roaming laws have changed in the EU, I've preferred using my own internet, however in the room the signal was low (even for calls). The room was quite big, very comfy and it was cleaned every day.
All the staff was very nice and this is what makes the hotel and our stay so enjoyable.
Superb, Friendly and Amazing experience at Philoxenia

I had this holiday booked for myself and 6 friends to stay for 10 days early July. We had the best time at the hotel thanks to the staff, the wonderful food and drink on offer and the excellent facilities. I'd like to thank the owner for allowing us to stay here as I know it is a family hotel but if you respect the place and treat it the way it should be you will be thanked.
I'd like to mention two people in particular who made this experience memorable. Apostolos and Nasos (the two fantastic people behind the bar) were very welcoming to me and my friends, as well them both making our holiday even better. I celebrated my 20th birthday with them both and they helped me have a fantastic time. Never would I expect two bartenders to be as brilliant as them both but they truly delivered. I owe them a lot for the great time I had.
The location of the hotel is perfect. Just a few minutes walk behind the hotel up the alley is the beach, which is breathtaking. It's definitely a rewarding experience if you catch the sunrise.
There are many facilities at the hotel, ranging from table tennis to pool to these amazing swinging chairs. You won't find another hotel with all of this, trust me.
Thank you to Philoxenia and all of the staff for a fantastic holiday. All the best.
Great Lads Holiday

Me and 6 others stayed here for a Lads holiday and it succeeded our expectations in every way. My brother booked it through ‘On the Beach’ (Who arrange flight, hotel & Transfers), so we were unsure of what to expect with the hotel – but the experience we had here was one you cannot forget.
We were first greeted from Naz at reception – who turned out to be one of our good mates during the holiday. He was very helpful, provided us with basic information and gave us our free Air Con & TV remotes – most hotels in Greece to my knowledge charge for Air con. He also mentioned it is a family hotel (Mostly Russian) and how after 12 at night you should be as quiet as possible – which wasn’t a problem as we were by the bar or gone by then.
We were slightly apprehensive when Naz asked for a 70 Euro deposit from each of us as soon as we arrived, however, he clarified it was due to a previous group of lads who caused havoc within the hotel - obviously they was unsure about us too. We received the 70 Euro deposit back from the hotel due to our good behavior some days in.
The hotel is in a nice quiet location, which was a nice opposite to the nights out we had! It is literally a minute walk from McDonalds which is arguably the start of the strip, and a 3 minute walk to the beach. The Breakfast was quite basic, but perfect after a night out (For the ones who made it). We had the 10 euro evening buffet-meal some evenings, which was very nice. They slow cook something from midday on their slow cook BBQ whether it be pork or Lamb so it is extra tasty in the evening.
Philoxenia Wi-Fi is free in the dining area, however not free around the hammocks/pool or your rooms, which is understandable. Our group spent a lot of time around the pool and hammocks so we just used 3G or 4G instead. 3G or 4G was unreachable in our rooms however.
A couple of the nights including my Brothers 20th birthday, Naz & Apostolos made us all a special massive Watermelon cocktail (see pic). It cost us all 20 euro - which between the 7 of us is a mere 3 euro each which definitely got us going for the night ahead! Also had these Zombie cocktails which has like 5 different alcohols mixed in, cost 7 euro a hit but my god they hit you! The reps Naz & Apostolos also joined us for my brothers birthday night out – you cannot rate reps any higher if they join you for a night out to have a good time with you. You are also allowed to bring people back as long as you’re quiet, which was a bonus for some of us.
Special mention too to Vicky and the red haired lady – Forgot her name! Very helpful and always friendly saying hello.
Overall we all had a fantastic time, and the hotel had a big part to play in it. The location, food and staff were all brilliant. We can’t rate this hotel any higher. If any of us return to Malia we are certain we would return to this hotel. Fully recommend this to anyone.
Thank you Philoxenia and thanks for the memories!
