What People are saying

Excellent accommodation

James Con 02/06/2017 00:41

Thoroughly recommend this location if you're looking to stay in Kelowna. Very well situated for downtown Kelowna and West Kelowna for the winery's. The accommodation itself was very well maintained, comfortable and well equipped with everything we needed. A very nice apartment.

Great condo

BSP1989on 28/05/2017 21:32

We rented a 2 bedroom loft condo through Western Canadian Reservations for a trip to Kelowna for a wedding. The condo being a loft was on the top (6th floor) It was well equipped with a fully equipped kitchen, barbecue on the deck, lots of towels, including towels for the pool. There is underground parking included. The resort itself has a very nice pool area, and also a nice common area with tables and a larger barbecue which could be utilized by a larger group. They also have a workout room which I did not use, but from what was seen through the door looked reasonably equipped. The resort itself has a strange layout, and at first is confusing to navigate. For the price ( It was 1/3 of what it would have cost us to rent the 2 rooms we would have required across the street at the El Dorado Hotel) it was a great place to stay and we would stay here again.

Girls Weekend

We rented a unit through AirBnB for a weekend. There were 7 girls and we had more than enough space. The apartment had 3 bedrooms and a pull out couch, so could have slept 8. We were pool/courtyard facing which was nice. The kitchen was fully stocked with supplies. Beds, towels, carpets were clean. There was plenty of spare towels also. BBQ on the patio. Washer and dryer available in the unit. There was parking for one car, the second car parked in a visitors stall however the owner provided passes for both cars. Had to take out the garbage and recycling but that's pretty standard when you rent through AirBnB. Not far from downtown. Beware though, the pool and hot tub are not open year round. It was a great space and in a great location.

Great condo for a family

We rented out a unit through AirBnB as the entire wedding party was staying at this hotel.PROS:* Clean apartment. We had a 1 bedroom queen + den (with a full size bed) + pull out couch. * Kitchen fully stocked * Parking space (just one) * BBQ on the patio * Coffee house and restaurant on the premises * One block from the beach * 10 min walk to grocery store CONS * Lots of walking from the main entrance * Lots of doors and hallways Since each unit is owned separately, we had a Smart TV in ours, checkout at 10:30am (as opposed to our friends who rented through the Playa del Sol and checkout for them was 10am), and we didn't have to clean up after ourselves since professional cleaning service was coming (but our friends had to wash the dishes, empty their trash, etc. which is something you DON'T want to deal with on vacation). It's a great location and if you get the right owner, it's a great experience and place to stay.

Really disappointing

We stayed at Playa del Sol last year and had a great experience. This year we stayed in a different unit and had a very poor experience. Both times we rented through West Canadian Reservations.

The bedding and towels were stained. The towels were old and certain of them are fraying. There was hair in the "clean" beach towels. The kitchen towels smelled unclean.

The carpet in the master bedroom was badly stained. The blinds in the living room were cheap, tattered and one of the mechanisms was broken. The coating on the dining room chairs was peeling off. The cushions on the bar stools were stained. The toilet paper holder fell off the wall when my husband touched it. The bathroom doors would not lock, which is a hassle with little kids...

The kitchenware was cheap and in poor condition. For example, one of the frying pans was so warped on the bottom it would not sit flat on the stove. The kitchen was also full of fruit flies when we checked in.

Because of the way it was positioned (shorted of the necessary space to maneuver in and out of the spot by virtue of garbage and recycling dumpsters in front of it), our particular parking spot was very difficult to access.

It is expensive to stay at Playa - we paid approximately $300 per night for a one bedroom and den. We got what I felt was a 2 star hotel experience at most. I'm sure the quality of the stay differs from unit to unit, with some units being better maintained than others, however, we would not stay at Playa again.
