I was at first a little worried about finding the hotel, having never been to Loreto before, but it was so easy you'd have to be blind to miss it. Upon arrival we were greeted by Luz who is a very charming host and showed us around the property, to our room, and the room ammenities. Yes, it's a small hotel, 8 rooms I think. We had #4 which was quite roomy and well kept. Prices were very reasonable but I do have a few complaints starting with no hot water for the shower. The first morning we woke up to a cold shower, nothing else we could do. On my way out for the day there was a nice young gentleman sitting in the office and I explained to him (as best I could as his English was about as good as my Spanish) about the cold shower. He seemed to get it and said it would be fixed. By the time we got back that day, the office was closed and we still did not have hot water. So we didn't bother with a shower the next day. Second issue, just to be aware of as I'm not complaining is that there is no elevator, so if you're in an upper room you're dragging your luggage up the stairs. I wish there was a pool or hot tub, preferably the latter. And finally I wish they had at least one TV channel in English. I think there were a couple hundred channels, but all in Spanish.
I probably should have realized that Saturday nights are party nights in Mexican cities. There was something quite loud going on until about 4:15am on the Saturday night we were there. Made sleeping a bit difficult. The other thing that bothered my just a bit was that there is no one in the office after 7 or 8 pm I think. Before going to bed I wondered what the heck would we do if we had an emergency during the night? Luckily we didn't have to find out, but I don't think it would have been very good.
Overall a great stay though, we really enjoyed the hotel and Loreto.
Charming boutique hotel

I moved to Posada del Cortes for three nights after four spent in a luxury property, and I'm very glad I did. The property is serene and beautifully landscaped, with a private patio and charming rooftop space. Each room is unique and artfully designed and appointed. My bed was comfortable (could use more and better pillows) and TV has many channels, including in English. The owners are now building 8 additional rooms across the street, The location is ideal, one block from the Malecon and a short stroll to restaurants, the Mission, and shops. The owners are gracious and very helpful. Muchas gracias, Luz. I hope to see you again soon.

This is my new favorite place to stay in Loreto. This is a small, Mexican owned inn with beautiful grounds and a terrific roof top terrace. I stayed here with a photoworkshop group and loved it. The rooms and grounds have great accent pieces - they feel elegant and very Mexican. There is a great view of the church from the rooftop that makes for a very nice photograph at sunset or sunrise. The towels were a bit "crisp" for Americans, but everything else about the hotel is terrific. The most expensive room was only $75 and could easily accommodate 3 people. Reserve early as there are only 7 rooms.
