Located at very top of hill with very few and only occasional signs. When arriving at large car parking area, continue up "White Disc" road stated as for Pousada - this continues steeply uphill with a severe hairpin left - but a large adjacent area to allow the turn . Car park at summit, large but public.
Hotel reception good, escorted to room on second floor. Good seating area, good bathroom,, excellent views to valley below.

Restaurant large, well spaced tables, but no view out! All linen presentation, excellent quality service and food to match.
Breakfast served in cloisters around central courtyard (courtyard now a permanent marquees reserved for special events eg weddings). Limited choice, but adequate.

We stayed here to celebrate our honeymoon and Fernanda was so wonderful to us! She upgraded our room to a gorgeous suite and even surprised us by leaving a bottle of iced sparkling wine and fresh fruits in our room when we returned from our walk around the castle! Amazing service from wonderful staff.
The castle is gorgeous and views are unbeatable. Totally worth the half hour drive from Lisbon!

Arrived yesterday 26/5/17 great check in Miguel new in post but credit to Pestana. However prior to arrival we had spent my birthday and wedding anniversary in Lisbon , my wife was going to book Belaconte but I said wait a day and we will celebrate in Palmela. Phone call made assured of VIP treatment , restaurant staff however appeared unaware and we were given unromantic table , asked to speak to management "no show"
Spoke to manager this morning full of apologies, then today wedding at hotel so al fresco breakfast in dark restaurant instead , surely a mention at check in ??? Returned at 15.20 room not made up as priority been given to wedding party , ok drink at the bar ?? No bar closed due to wedding alternate location in the dark .
I know you have to run a business but staff being left to take the flak!!!!

Beautiful Pousada in Beautiful Location.
This Pousada stands beside the Castle and Church with magnificent views of the country side. The Pousada is at the top of the hill but a short walk to restaurants and bars so not isolated. The interior is beautiful and the bedrooms are very comfortable. The breakfast is excellent with plenty of choice and lovely regional cheeses and cakes . The staff are very friendly as seem to be all Portugese people , this was our second visit and will return again .

We stayed here for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the chance to stay in such a historic building with wonderful views that can be enjoyed from a number of areas.
Our room was a good size although a little updating wouldn't go amiss, particularly in the bathroom where the old-fashioned over the bath shower expelled water in various directions missing one's body in the process.
The staff and the food were great and we would recommend this pousada very highly.
Anyone looking to visit Lisbon (who doesn't ?) would find this very convenient.
