Nita oon 18/11/2017 06:15Fabulous hotel, tastefully decorated with classic furniture and rich historic pictures throughout the hotel, telling of its founders, century old patrons and the hotels development over hundreds of years.
It's my first time in Malawi and I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else.
Historic, Comfortable Property
Tamara Son 28/10/2017 13:03This hotel, the oldest continuously running hotel in Malawi has both historic charm and modern conveniences. I really enjoy staying in historic properties and the plus is this is Marriott's one and only property in Malawi. The breakfast buffet was just ok, nothing fabulous, but I found plenty enough to eat. Plus the hotel's 21 Grille is considered the best restaurant in Blantyre, if not Malawi. The front desk, restaurant, and other staff were polite and attentive. The rooms are small but have all the things a business traveler needs.
A note on price: Hotels in Malawi are not cheap. And certainly not if you want a certain level of comfort. Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world, so the majority of Malawians are not staying in hotels. You might get sticker shock here and in similar hotels in the country, but keep in mind where you are.
EU 5 Star Prices!!
cincolon 16/10/2017 20:22US$235 per day for bed and breakfast is a real rip-off! There is nothing else in Blantyre so they charge whatever they like! A 5 star in Mumbai or Sydney or Kuala Lumpur or Barcelona doesn't cost that much! I paid $100 in Mumbai recently for a FAR better stay, which also included dinner.
The food is mediocre and the service similarly aligned.

If you expect a nice scenery in this beautiful country, you are at the wrong place.
However should you expect a business hotel, this works quite well. I always encounter one problem whilst there, however they are always taken seriously immediately and with a smile.
A little pricy, but I always left happy with my stay (even when my stay was not the best).
For African standards, a quite nice pick. Take the time to eat at the hannover 21 next door - food is great.
Totally Overpriced & Overrated

The place itself is basically ok, butI always had small rooms with small beds and the bathroom was fit for a midget.
The room price is totally over the top for a hotel this category.
