Great Location at a Good Price

My partner and I recently spent a week at the Puerto Caleta Apartments in Caleta. We booked through Jet2 Holidays, and after we were dropped off at the apartments from our transfer, check in was a breeze.
We were given a ground floor apartment facing the pool. It was a one bedroom apartment and was quite spacious. The pool area has plenty of sunbeds, and we never had an issue getting two together. There is a pool bar serving drinks and snacks throughout the day, and although the pool may not be the biggest there is a lifeguard on duty too.
The rooms were cleaned three times during the week, with a change of towels and bedding. The maid was very friendly and appreciated being greeted in Spanish on a morning.
Location wise, these apartments are quite central and you are close to most of the resort. The beach is only five minutes walk away down the side of the Barcelo, and the El Castillo Center is only five minutes away too where we spent most evenings eating & drinking.
Overall, the Puerto Caleta Apartments are an excellent option at a great price too.
Good value but hygiene an issue

I stayed here for one week in November 2017. I paid extra for a poolside room, and my travel agent requested a first floor apartment which wasn't available when I checked in. That was ok as my room was literally onto the pool with a lovely hibiscus tree giving privacy. The rooms are basic and tired, but that's to be expected for the price. The complex is small and intimate which makes up for that.
I was very upset at the amount of cockroaches in my apartment! They were various sizes, tiny to quite large, and the smaller ones even turned up INSIDE the fridge!!
I raised the issue with reception on my second evening, and they said they could not help as you would need to leave the room after spraying any product. I mentioned it to the cleaners next day and they got me a spray. I used this everywhere in the apartment, all sides of the fridge, behind the units etc. but never got rid of them. Towards the end of the week they were appearing in the bathroom and bedroom, on the couch in the living room...
I showed photos to reception again on checkout and they feigned surprise and said they would speak to the poor cleaners again.
As I said to the man on reception - the rooms are fine, but they need a good deep clean!
It's a pity as the location, pool, general facilities were fine, and the Capitan next door is a lovely spot. Towels were replaced often and the cleaning staff were lovely.
However dated decor is acceptable, lack of hygiene certainly isn't. I expect the cleaning staff are on too tight of a turnaround.
Loved it

We are here on our last night and we don't want to leave. It was a last minute booking and the location could not be any better. 2 mins walk to the beach. 3 mins walk from all the shops. This place is bang in the center of everything. Our apartment (number 4) was very clean. The maids came nearly every day to change the bedding and towels. We knew there wouldnt be a kettle as we read the reviews but we boiled water in a pan which only took a couple of mins. But you can hire a kettle if needed. The beds are very comfy too. The pool is lovely and clean and always has a life guard present. We never struggled for a sun loungers but it is November. The pool area was nice and quiet which was nice but again it's November. We fell in love with the grey and white cat that lives here, it wouldn't leave our apartment but we didn't mind because it's a very clean cat and so sweet. It just wants to sleep near you. Have to recommend you pay a visit to the Chinese at the back of the apartments called the slow boat 2. (NOT THE ONE UPSTAIRS.) The food here is beautiful and really cheap. We got a deal that was 6.80 euro for 2 courses. We went twice as it was that good. There is live music every night at the restaurant El captain which is in the middle of the apartments it's from 9pm til 11pm. It didn't bother us as we could sit on our patio area and listen to it. If we did go to bed and it was still playing it didn't stop us getting to sleep at all. It was actually quite nice music to listen to. We are normally used to 5 star hotels but we would definitely visit here again
Lovely

Lovely complex some rooms overlooked the pool these and the rooms on the front were nice and bright the room I was in (number 72, but also 73 & 74) were dark with no sunlight getting to the patio area or rooms when doors closed I couldn't say if it was day or night. the rooms were clean the pool looked lovely and also cleaned every morning the toolbar was nice and bright and the staff were lovely and worked hard. The el capatain bar located underneath the complex was a friendly and entertaining place to be and always busy. The complex has a lot of steps so unless you are on the ground floor its wouldn't be suitable for people who had difficulty in climbing stairs
excellent for the value

We stayed in april 17 and again in oct 17,for one week. Our first stay we were given an apartment that faced towards the back of the hotel with a shared patio area. This time we paid a little extra for a pool view. We like to holiday self catering to support the local restaurants and so we can explore the area. The hotel is clean the room was cleaned and sheets and towels changed during our stay. It is a bit dated and everything wobbles a bit but like another reviewer said you get what you pay for so don't expect 5 stars. If our holiday room is clean and safe then we are happy, we don't go away to spend time in the apartment. We want to swim, sunbath, read and eat out. There are plenty of places to eat locally to suit most budgets. There are local supermarkets. The beach is close by and if you like a good stroll continue past the harbor and walk to the left you can walk along the coast pathway for miles. it is well lit we normally take an evening walk after our meal. For people who want to explore there are excursions that can be booked in the local town area 10 min walk away. There are lots of little trinket shops to browse through, bars and cafes. We were there during the festival of the sea and the local square next to the hotel was set up like a mini fair it was OK but we were glad when it closed up a couple of nights was enough.
The drawbacks were that there was only a few umbrellas and some of the sun beds had seen better days but there were plenty to choose from. There are lots of little steps here and there so may be difficult for people with mobility problems. Bar pool bit pricey but you can take your own drinks to the pool area. We are planning to return next year. We have visited Caleta de fuste a few times and for those who are just traveling as a couple you can catch the bus outside the airport and walk down to the hotel takes about 20 minutes.
