DISSAPOINTING
KATE60-61on 09/10/2017 12:02Unfortunately stayed here for 6 days with a tour group.Hotel very poor run down and in need of update and some TLC very neglected outside broken and dirty chairs, black fungal encrusted showers.Trip hazards all over hotel,no hand rails broken and slippy path ways.ate out most nights as food not great and after finding beetles floating in my cereal couldnt face breakfast.Rooms were kept clean with clean towels every day but wardrobe door was hanging off and cigarette stubs on balcony.only way into town was by 121 steps and funicular that led you to a dark and wet and long tunnel that only the bravest would attempt with a can of hairspray in ones hand for protection. No positives to say about this hotel.
The view is the only good thing about this hotel
denisejc2016on 29/09/2017 12:55I had the misfortune of staying here for six nights as part of a group of 32 people booked through a tour company, so unfortunately I counldnt leave after the first night as I would have liked to.
If I had been taken here in the 1970's I would have probably thought it was great but this is 2017 and no way was this a four star hotel, I am being VERY generous giving it two stars! The reception area is very pleasant- don't be fooled by this.
I managed to change rooms after the first night to one that was not so depressing & had a wardrobe door that was not jammed shut.
The hotel is on so many different levels due to it being built in a hillside that there are steps everywhere and very few with handrails. This would not pass safety standards in the U.K.
The restaurant is open on one side which is ok apart from the pigeons flying around while you eat. The restaurant just couldn't cope with 32 people, they didn't have enough cups we had to wait for them to be washed. The big bowls of cereal were left out overnight & after witnessing a pigeon sitting on a croissant one morning they were a no no! Again the hygiene standards would not pass in the U.K.
I could list a lot more things but my advice is just DONT STAY THERE !!
The view alone will NOT help you!
Travelbird19on 18/08/2017 15:17We spent 2 weeks in this hotel.
4-star ?
If you ask us: NO !
I will use bullet points to go faster.
First the POSITIVE points:
+Breakfast (Italian style).
+Staff very friendly (except 2) and child friendly.
+Reactive staff in case of request.
+View over the bay.
+Access to city.
+Room cleaning.
+Room sound isolation.
+Parking
Then the NEGATIVE points:
+TV: france24, bbc, euronews. Rest italian.
+Bed very hard. Pillows with metal strings inside.
+shower no pressure. From very cold to very hot. Or only cold some evenings. Impossible to take shower.
+Swimming pool/security: externals come in. No or not enough control. And disturbing the pool. No priority for seats to internal guests during weekend. They sell space to externals. We got one towel stolen.
Actually the swimming pool is NOT private to the hotel, this was confirmed by the hotel manager.
The round small pool is only there for decoration!
+Funicular: externals using it without card (waiting for guests to activate it).
+Restaurant: wrong order deliveries (ex: order spaghetti, get rice). Every evening.
+Restaurant: Thursday evening information in elevator that restaurant will be closed for private event. On Saturday evening!! What about guests who pay their holidays and guests with half-board!? Nothing: go eat elsewhere. No alternative.
+Breakfast: 2 waiters criticising us & other clients of this hotel in Italian, language that we understand. Waiter was complaining to 2 other italian customers in italian...thinking we don't understand.
+Breakfast eventhough finished at 10h30 not enough bread and milk "because a big group". Bad planning.
+Surroundings of hotel dirty. No cleaning of tree waste. Plastic glass and some small paper lying on stairs for a week. Pool full of leaves and needles all around.
+Terraces of all rooms: dead plants and rusted pots.
+Overall paint job to be done.
+Monday 24/07: total water cut. No more toilet, bath, shower water... ZERO information about it to clients!
+Monday 24/07: evening dinner. Washed pasta penne a la rabbiata. Spicy. For my son who is allergic to tomato! Not acceptable.. they WASHED it!!!!!! And they make you think it is natural...
+Restaurant, bar, breakfast: not enough staff/waiters. People are running.
+Fridge very noisy.
+ants in room
I have tried to be as factual as possible here.
Having spoken with other guests we were reassured not to be the only ones.
Have to add that we filed an official complaint with the manager and we got a very poor 140€ discount and 2 bottles of wine. Considering the money we spent, don't think this is the way to treat Customers.
Never seen such 4 star in my life.
Not worth it!
If anybody wants pictures, just write to me.
great hotel
Dan Non 07/08/2017 21:20Everything except the funicular is great about this hotel, the best breakfast I've had in ten days in Italy, great pool, nice room, hugh beds, so so wifi, but overall a great experience with wonderful service and an easy walk into the city centre.
Honeymoon ruined
Lauren-Charnleyon 15/06/2017 09:46We stayed here as penultimate night of our honeymoon and truly wish that we hadn't. We were told we had an upgrade but thought they'd made a mistake when we saw the room. The balcony is full of weeds and dead plants, the paint work is scuffed, the room has about as much charm as a prison cell, the shower went hot and cold, parking was horrendous and staff were unfriendly and surly. Swimming pool was closed and wifi was very intermittent. The curtain was full of holes and looked like it would fall down when we pulled it closed. It was a similar quality to a grotty motel but much more expensive. Altogether a thoroughly horrible stay that put a really bad atmosphere on our honeymoon trip, and was a horrible way for a lovely trip to end. I wish we had left as soon as we saw the room.
