Not bad. Location was just fine I guess. There was a big rain when I was in there so I couldn't go out a lot. Facilities are not bad. Not that clean but still okay. Room was quite small. Bed was comfortable. Staff's English was not very good but still they can understand what you're saying if you speak slowly.

This is a really nice and friendly place. it is conveniently located close to Montevideo's best bares and restaurants, and really close to the bus station to Ciudad Vieja. The rooms are clean, the breakfast is fair and the staff is really really friendly (with some exceptions, but it didn't hurt my overall positive experience).
The hostel has a cozy feel to it and is really great to meet people during your trip.

40 minute bus ride to centre, 4 lanes to cross to beach. If the bathrooms are "in use" you may need to cross your legs a long time.
Inexcusable
Bed bugs.

I arrived in Montevideo from Porto Alegre after a 12 hour TTL bus ride. I was beat and exhausted, but upon my arrival, I immediately felt welcomed and at home. Gabby, the receptionist, helped me to ease into the hostel atmosphere and answered all my questions with full-hearted answers; her hospitability was invaluable. I was also welcomed with a warm smile by a very friendly fellow British Columbian (who works at the hostel) named Renato - what a kind soul he has. Juan, the owner, is also very friendly and resourceful, and will go out of his way to help - so ask him any questions or concerns you may have! The hostel is located in a safe and sound part of the city only a city block and a half away from the beach. The hostel as a whole is very professional and clean (the lobby, bathrooms and kitchens are all very clean and spacious). The beds are comfortable with very clean sheets and blankets provided. All in all, I would recommend Punto Berro Hostel to all backpackers or travelers looking for a cheap place to stay in Montevideo for a few nights, or even weeks. ¡Divertirse!

This place was a nice easy landing in Montevideo. It has a relaxed chilled out vibe and it was quiet so good for a night's sleep too. There are restaurants and shops locally so you don't have to worry about going too far if you don't want to. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the wifi was very good too. All in all, top place.
