What People are saying

My stay at Atlantic congress hotel

christinemwinzion 20/09/2017 11:05

The hotel is situated at a nice quiet area it s peaceful to stay around here. The spa is good you can get many types of treatments and enjoy different types of saunas. The rooms are specious and clean but I think some renovation would be good .The floors are carpeted..The hotel has a bar open from morning to late in the evening. The restaurant has very good food and not expensive you can enjoy any meal and drinks and pay less than 40€

The Shining? To say this place is worn out, is an understatement.

The hotel lobby looks like it is trying to be Art Deco, but in bad taste. The first floor landing looks like a scene from The Shining, with glass cabinets containing random stuff like faded coral, odd mementos from the hotels heyday. My room on the second floor was accessed via a construction zone, with dust and building materials everywhere. The threadbare main staircase has glass bricks, many of which are cracked but do appear to be home to a number of species of organism, none of which I recognise.

The bathroom;
Shower screen mounted upside down, mouldy sealant, cracked tiles, broken toilet seat, dirty sink, cobwebs and of course the obligatory pile of filth behind the purple door. The front face of the door is however a lovely textured leatherette.

The room;
Badly damaged Parquet flooring, dirty windows and frames, broken light fixings, filthy pictures, dusty mirror, dirty door and fixings.... The list goes on.

Of particular interest (to me anyway) was the member of staff who appeared to be gardening in the main car park with a pair of scissors. Picture attached. I am sure there must be a perfectly logical reason for this activity?

Spa was closed. No reason or excuse given, just a shrug of shoulders and a wry smile whilst telling us the good news.

The positives;
TV is digital
The bed seems ok
It is cheap

I understand from another guest, that some of the rooms on the upper floors have been upgraded, but are normally reserved for aircrew.

Close to airport

Only spent one night here due to an early morning flight so didn't get to try any of the hotel's amenities since we arrived in the evening. Good buffet breakfast, comfortable bed & good sized room. Free parking is available.

Very nice hotel, spacious room, super lovely staff, reception ladies were absolutely helpful and accomodating. Big car park, bus stop to the airport is right in front of the hotel. Village with bars and restaurants is just a few minutes walk away. Bright room, though good curtains , big and comfortable bed, clean and relaxing room, a couple of mirrors of good size. Could jump on the bed while sunbathing in the morning, really enjoyed it. Haven't tried the breakfast. Wifi works well.
Overall evaluation is great value.
Would come back again.

Both the Titanic and I sunk in the Atlantic.

The good things are that the wifi worked and the room was clean and thats where it stops. We arrived after a long flight and the staff thoughtbit would be prudent to allow me to struggle up a large set of steps rather than intervene. On checking in I have been greated more warmly by parking inspectors. Once this was completed we were pointed to the lift in the most dismissive manner.
On arrival to the second floor I was greated with a decor that immediately had the opening chords of Hotel California going through my head. I may check out of this hotel but the images will never leave.
The room itself was a good size with enough beds for The Brady bunch for the two of us.
We set about finding power points. None that worked and finally I had to unplug and move the fridge (that was not turned on in any case) to plug things in.
It must have been a warm day because the room was hot. I went to turn the air conditioning on and immediately got something going that sounded like it could set the left wing of the hotel aflight. Alas it coughed air akin to an asthmatic kitten.
I fell asleep exhausted and tired only to awake 2 hours later due to the heat. On that basis that I could not sleep I decided to share my experience with the desk clerk. One the plus side he was more courteous than his predecessor and acknowledged that they had had some problems with the air in some rooms. That was a great comfort to me as you can imagine.
So, the next morning we left on our trek, tired, grumpy unrested and totally disillusioned. Not sure how much we paid for the room except that it was too much.
If I have to describe our experience the word quality, is certainly not likely to be excercised.
