Nogreymadson 11/11/2017 22:44We visited some months ago fr coffee. I ordered a long black and got dishwater. I asked the barista if she could make one with a crema and she answered “No”.
Nonetheless it is close to the Playhouse Theatre so we resolved to go there for dinner last night. We couldn’t get in. All the doors were locked at 7.00pm on Saturday night. The lights were on but there were no staff visible. I guess the coffee was representative of the whole business.

I was just put off a bit by the actual design of the room we stayed in. No door on the bathroom!! Not all couples want to see the other half shower! And the toilet felt like a little broom cupboard, with no natural light.
There was nowhere to put suitcases so ours ended up on the coffee table and the desk. Could be a lovely place to stay, just needs fine tuning :)
Terrific value for money and meets all expectations!
Gavin Son 09/10/2017 22:39Look, you're in Hobart. It's a great place to walk around, so you won't be staying in your room that you spent $$$$$$ on, particularly in the Tasmanian capital. Knowing this, the Midcity is fabulous value, clean and spot on for cost. You're not paying for Mantra, Sheraton or 21century luxury here, but a good bed, nice bathrooms and space.
Breakfast is available for a reasonable rate and it's great.
On Sundays there is a farmers market right outside the door and it's a quick walk to Salamanca Place and the waterfront. Know though, there is a pub across the street, but it was quiet on the weekend accommodated. Maybe a mountain facing or top floor room would help, should things turn noisy.
My wife and her mother were very happy and comfortable at Midcity, and we'd have no second thoughts about staying there again.

Bokke1711on 25/09/2017 00:53Stayed one night for business. Parking is very limited. Hotel is going through refurbishment. Staff are friendly and helpful. Great location as name suggests it's in middle of town. Parking is $10 per day and not included in room rate. My bathroom had just been made over. Rest of room is dated. However was very clean and reasonably comfortable. At best this is average stay.

starzon 07/09/2017 01:48We have stayed in this hotel before and found it comfy ( if a little tired and in need of a refurb.) Rooms have always been warm and cosy (a necessity in Tasmanian winters) but our last stay was to put it mildly awful. Yes it is in mid refurbishment but we didn't expect to be on the same floor with the workmen complete with drills radios and paint fumes. Okay so they mercifully stopped work at 4pm but this didn't help the atmosphere. Our room was very clean.. The bathroom nicely done but bloomin cold... Our aircon unit could cool but wasn't heating at all... Luckily we were going to the theatre so we could heat up there but we were very lucky to have electric blankets..Tasmania was experiencing a cold blast... Nope I don't think we will try this one again... Sad because location made it a favourite.. Perhaps in future don't use the floor the workmen are actually demolishing???
