Came here on a deal, expectations were average and were met. It is an old place and has it's limitations. Position is brilliant, restaurants etc within easy walking distance, close even. Rooms are old but acceptable. It has a pool and everything you might expect but only qualifies as 3 star. Perfect if you are just visiting the area.

Arrived at reception and Kelly on reception made no real eye contact as she was busy with paperwork...umm hello.. front of house is important it's the starting point for any guest....free car parking is across the road, but looks like an outdoor supermarket car park. Getting to the room....hallway from hallway to hallway. Finally arrived to our room, which was great..no complaints till 9pm when we realised the a/c wasn't working and rang reception...yep Kelly again, who said she would get someone to see...he was great and helpful and as it was close to 30 degrees outside we decided to move rooms....after 30 min wait i had to ring Kelly again and asked to be moved to a better room. This room was perfect and comfortable. The pool and surrounds was traggic...looked like it was built during WWII.....not the most well kept area,similar to the rest of the hotel...as in peeling painted walls,looked like it was updated in the 80s and even an old pic of the hotel above the staircase was faded and peeling....its a dump....run run

Have stayed here once before years ago & had good memories. Weren't disappointed. We stayed in the older section looking out over parklands & the river. Some road noise but nothing after midnight. Very large older style hotel room plus large balcony on the first floor. Bathroom good, only exception was a clothes hanger on back of the door which was refixed on by maintenance staff. Bed comfortable, everything clean & tidy. Excellent buffet breakfast included in very reasonable tariff.

We drove up to Mildura for a long weekend and booked into the Grand for a few nights. It's in a great spot right next to the main shopping and restaurant area and the staff on reception were very helpful and efficient.
The room however was pretty ordinary with a creaky floor and tired old fixtures. I'm sure there are better facilities in town.

We picked the hotel for it's location. We had booked a twin room and the room offered was very nice but to get there you needed map, a love of mazes (this place is a rabbit warren) and the ability to climb many stairs - no lift available for the room we were offered. As we were staying a couple of nights and I was not really able to manage all the stairs - one flight would have been ok - we asked for a change of room. At first we were told that wasn't possible but after a great deal of conversation with reception they did agree that they could change the room, but only to a king. As I was traveling with my daughter we agreed to do this.
Both rooms we saw had been updated but our overall impression of the hotel was not good. The public areas of the hotel were well in need of updating, cracked floor tiles, toilets that had seen better days, dark and dingy corridors and a lack of service orientation. Would not stay here again.
