My husband and I decided at the last minute to take a trip to Cincy to visit the Freedom Center. It was my birthday, and our anniversary weekend. We decided we wanted to stay in a Bed and Breakfast during our trip. After reading the reviews on the B&B’s nearest to downtown Cincy, we decided on the Weller Haus. Luckily
My husband and I had a late flight out of Chicago into Atlanta on 7/20/2017. We arrived around 11:30 pm. We had plans to stay one night with a family member, but that fell through at the last minute, so we needed to find a hotel so that we could get some rest. After getting some food, my cousin brought us to the Quality Inn and Suites. This was last minute, and we were tired. I had not done any research to find a hotel, and we did not want my cousin driving us all of the place trying to find a place because it was almost 1 am.
Red flags went off the minute I entered the lobby. The lobby had a musty odor, and there was a female security guard there (why do you need security). The young lady behind the counter was nice enough. I did inquire about the odor, and she stated she did not know what it was, and that she had smelled it as well when she came in, and she had intentions of spraying, but had forgotten about it. I did ask to see the room (#202) before I confirmed the reservation. She did allow me to see it. I was mostly concerned at that time that the bed was clean.
My cousin and I went up to the room to check it out (my hubby was still in the car finishing his food). I saw that the sheets and coverings on the bed appeared to be clean. Third flag, there was a bag of garbage that had been left on the dresser, which I assumed had been left by housekeeping. On the way out of the room, the young lady from the desk was coming down the hall spraying air freshener, so we handed the bag of garbage to her. Like I said, we were tired, it was late, and we did not want to have my cousin driving all over the place.
We went ahead and checked in, and went to sleep. The next morning, with the dawning of a new day, we saw just how bad this room was. The furnishings were totally outdated and mis-match, which was not a huge deal to us. The curtains were falling down off the rods, and they had holes in them. The lamp shade had a hole in it….how expensive is a lamp shade to replace! But, after going into the bathroom, and seeing mold on the walls, and the water damage….we were appalled that they rented this room to us. The very thin shower curtain was on a curved shower rod that would not stay closed, so it kept sliding to the middle of the rod, so water was getting on the floor causing a potential slip and fall hazard. You could see the dirt inside the light cover in the bathroom. So, my husband and I just decided to hurry up and get out of that room. To add insult to injury, upon checking out, I was asked by MJ, did we have a good stay, and I replied “no”, and he did not say another word, just handed me my receipt. He asked the question, but did not deal with my answer.
I contacted the Quality (SMH) Inn & Suites on 8/9/2017 @11:40 am CST to really find out the name of the gentlemen who had checked us out, so that I could send some correspondence to management. I happened to get Michelle on the phone, who identified herself as the Assistant GM. She told me that the gentleman’s name was MJ, and then she proceeded to ask me why was did I need his name, so I told her what had happened and even sent her pics of the room. She stated she would follow up with me, and sadly to say, today is 8/17, and I have not heard from her.
So, go the NEXT hotel on your list!

    Always Satisfied!

I would like to thank Ms. Baptist(GM), Ms. Charlotte(Mgr), Brittany(Front desk), Janice, Yvonne, Alice, Felecia and Gabrielle(Front Desk) for another GREAT visit! I'm always and unexpected and extended guest! One day seems to turn into five:) As always, the staff was extremely endearing and accommodating! There was a MINOR issue during my stay! With that being said, I am a firm believer in that it's not the PROBLEM, it's what steps of action are taken to RESOLVE the issue! The issue was handled expediently and with the professionalism by Ms. Charlotte that you would expect in the Hospitality industry! No property in this industry will ever be perfect! But it's very important that you treat your guest with the utmost respect! If there is an issue, be contrite, empathetic then move forward in rectifying the concerns of that guest! It was handle this way with my experience! It's a great location! Near the highway and not far from Downtown Atlanta! If you have the opportunity to be checked in by Brittany, she will bring instant joy! Her smile lights up the room! My recommendations for this property are continue to make the Quality Inn, Lithonia a place where a guest would RATHER be! Make success your highest calling! Continue to EXCEED the expectations of your guest, no matter who they are and your property will continue to prosper! Be mindful that it's not about "one" visit! It's about return visits that drives overall success! Thank you again for another "QUALITY" experience!

    Disappointment

I am not a hotel snob nor do I need fancy things but this hotel was less than I expected. We booked a non smoking room. The room as we entered smelled of old smoke. The floor creaked as you walked across it(we were on the 2nd floor). The decor was old and worn. I have to say the bed was comfortable but we could of used a blanket on the bed. The hair dryer did not work properly. The grout in the bathroom was dirty. The shower curtain rod was about to fall off the wall. For being free the breakfast was ok. We experienced at 2am loud noises in the hall and banging on our door. It was very frightening. This is the main reason I give this hotel poor rating. I did not feel safe. I have to say the staff contacted a security person and the hall was searched and we were told that camera film would be reviewed. We elected to check out early and not stay another night. Another unsafe issue is when we awaken in the am we noticed that the smoke alarm was covered with plastic to prevent it alarming from previous smokers. Price is important but budget price is not worth it if you feel unsafe. I would not recommend this hotel. Oh, the safe in the room did not work either. A guy came to look at it but did not fix it.

    Interesting stay!

Check in was interesting! Though, we I was under the impression that it was a 100% smoke free hotel, the lobby reeked of weed, front desk stated there was nothing they could do about it, also that security would be in later. When I saw security he wasn't interested in the weed smell and the smell was ongoing for the entire 3 days. Housekeeping came in to change the bedding and they were GHETTO! I hate to use that word, but it is, what it is, it was cursing and just no professionalism displayed. I inspected my room at check in and look at the top of the bathtub and it was a stale washrag hanging above the shower. Not sure why this wasn't caught before check guests in.Breakfast was stale and I witnessed guests eating and breakfast staff putting up food! This isn't how you treat paying guests.Night Auditor was very professional and nice. Everything we asked for, he granted, very accommodating. Check out was hilarious, I encountered the assistant manager, she was much better. Very unprofessional and unwelcoming. Understand that you have to have a love for the business to be in the business. Its an overall nice hotel, just needs managing! Step it up! Not far from downtown Atlanta and many restaurants.

    Nice staff, but...

Beware if you want/need a truly nonsmoking room. Ours had obviously been a smoking room sometime in the past; the stale smoke odor coming out of the air conditioning unit was gagging. It was an ok price for the weekend, and the staff was really nice and helpful, but we are unlikely to stay there again.
