Bad attitude BOB is a poor representative of "Quality Inn"

I should have read the reviews first. But typically I can deal with imperfections. I can handle that this area of Bradenton is not the best area. I left another hotel up the street because it was foul. I booked 3 nights here with my dog, since it was advertised as dog friendly.
I arrived to the lobby with my 11 year old corgi to be abruptly asked to put the dog back in the car. It's Florida, it's hot in the car... there are laws about that sort of thing. But BOB was the elderly man with the nasty disposition. There was no need to be rude. And I told him I thought his handling of the situation was improper. He replied that food is served there and did I want to call the health department. I looked into the room and asked if I could get food. He said no, it's only open for breakfast. Ok... there are ways of talking to people, and then there's the way BOB treated me as a first time guest. It only takes a minute to get registered. It costs more to anger guests with a complete lack of hospitality. It's unprofessional and I hope others read this and boycott this place.
I don't usually bother with a scathing review, because I don't care enough about the pathetic life of a miserable servant in a disgusting hotel. But today BOB needs to lose his job as a representative of Quality Inn. He's a disgrace. I've been in the hospitality industry for 27 years, and that's no way to greet people.
Read all reviews before staying here.

Check-in was quick and easy. But that's where it stops.
First the counter clerk had trouble setting up the room cards. (The machine was having issues)
When I got to the "first room". It took two trips back to the office to relay the cards. It seemed there was no power to the door.
The "second room" key card worked.
Even though it's not a smoking room, it sure seems as it was used that way.
The carpet is dark and dirty looking. So is the sofa.
The room door deadbolt lock doesn't turn very easily. You really have to push the door.
In the room there's a large flat screen tv, a medium microwave, a larger mini fridge and a one cup coffee maker.
In the bathroom is a large deep tub / shower combo.
Ask for a room in the front area. (It's a little more lighted, it's hard to see the people standing around outside the doors at night.)
The parking lot is well lit.
I haven't been to the free breakfast.
It's good for a night or two.
Never again

Came to check in only to be told that someone had already checked in under my name.. a man had just arrived before us and produced I’d with my name on ? When we asked if they found it strange that a man was named joanne the guy behind the desk just looked at us blankly and ignored the question.. the room is dated and smells like a brewery, the easy chair is covered in stains and pillows smelled dirty.. surround area is also very run down with lack of amenities.. no safe deposit boxes as advertised and were advised to carry all valuables with us... booked originally for 4 nights but only staying the one and then moving on as really don’t feel safe staying here
Questionable and unscrupulous activity on property

The only reason why I'm giving this hotel a one star is because it is the only way I can leave a review. Overheard the manager Dee attempt to kick out a couple that were seeking shelter from the hurricane. I know I shouldn't have been nosy but I could not help it since we were seeking shelter from the hurricane as well. Apparently there were complaints of fighting. Dee made it perfectly clear that the property was surrounded by cameras. That's when one of them said that she would appreciate it if Dee actually did look at the cameras because then she would have seen that there was no fighting. She then added that they would be able to see that it was them being interrupted on a nightly and daily basis by people looking for anything but a clean safe room and environment. We were concerned because we were having the same experiences. All occurring in the far back of the hotel. We got curious and realized that the two cameras in the back only face one small part of the parking lot. They don't face the rooms at all. There are a lot of blind spots that the wrong people are taking advantage of. We saw them at breakfast the following morning. We briefly chatted and they showed us a photo of their home. Completely flattened and a total loss. We expressed our sympathies and let them know that we were there for them if they needed us. This is not a family hotel. What kind of a manager would put any family in a situation like that after they had already lost so much is something I can't wrap my head around.
Spouse in nearby hospital

Over the time my husband was in Blake hospital, I stayed at this quality inn a number of nights including 3 for hurricane Irma. The rooms are clean enough although I couldn't recommend a smoking room, they are ash trays. I will admit I had seen ants. Typical got Florida. Management is very nice and friendly. breakfast was goid with many hot and cold options. Very good for the money.
