What People are saying

Classic quality, great location.

Deborah T on 11/11/2017 23:41

The Sebel Quay West, Brisbane is a quality classic, grand hotel. Driving to the entrance, we saw a beautiful hotel with lush furnishings, just like old Hollywood.
I was disappointed that there were no doorman to assist with our luggage, however I had organised an early check in and when I arrived at 8am, 2bedroom apartment was ready.
The apartment was fabulous, a great size, both bedrooms have huge beds with new, thick mattresses, great decor and lovely ensuites. The Arpel soaps etc were lovely.
The full kitchen, dining room, lounge and large balcony with table and chairs were great. The double size sofa bed in the lounge could have slept 2extra smaller people. The new carpet, furniture and Tv were great. The architecture and layout was a little dated.
The hotel has a lovely pool and pool area that we loved.
We were across the road from the botanical gardens so the view was delightful and the children could be taken outside in the park in the middle of the city.
The location of the hotel was fantastic! I am not someone who can walk far but I managed to walk to the city centre and back to purchase groceries without any problem. There are some top restaurants within walking distance.
I purchased my nights on an Accor 50% off sale. It was $299 for the 2bedroom apartment which sleeps5/6 people and it was worth the money.
Prices at this time, from the airport to the hotel are taxi $57, uber$34, train$18 per person with a 40 minute walk.
My advice is grab an uber.
Yes, I would stay here again. The staff were more than helpful, they were efficient, friendly and welcoming!

70's Flashback

When you arrive at a five star hotel you hope someone is there to greet you and help with your luggage, no such thing.
When we stepped out of the lift at our floor the smell hit us. The best way to explain the smell was OLD.
When we opened the door it was like stepping back in time. There is just one thing to say, who has seen a microwave with a dial for the timer and not buttons?
There are too many things to list.
We quickly checked to see if a real 5star hotel had a room and left as quickly as we could.
The hotel eventually refunded our money after a few phone calls.
All I can say is don't stay here it's more 3 star than 5 star.

Great location, lovely apartment, disappointing restaurant

GeoTravellerNZ on 08/11/2017 09:24

This is a characterful hotel in a great location right across the street from the Botanic Gardens (and also a short walk from shops and the river). Fantastic view over the Botans from an extensive balcony.

It's quirkier than a regular chain hotel and we enjoyed that almost-boutique feel to the place. The apartment was large and well equipped. The bed was really comfortable.

The bathroom was nearing the end of its life but was clean and large. The water pressure in the shower was barely adequate.

The only thing that let this place down was the restaurant. They just don't seem to have enough custom (because many of the apartments are privately owned) and so the menu is very limited, particularly at breakfast. So we ate out - and the choice in Brisbane is awesome!

The only place to stay for Riverstage, highly recommended

jayne1 on 21/10/2017 02:00

Had another wonderful stay here, river view apartment was amazing. Went went for Midnight Oil at the Riverstage & location was fantastic. Also easy walk to queen st mall & all the shops. All the staff were lovely. Shame Peter Garrett wasn't keen on a photo! Parking is pricey but most places are in Brisbane. We had breakfast one morning & it was lovely ordering off a menu instead of a buffet style. Rooms are fabulous size & large outdoor balcony, just a shame the weather was so horrible. Highly recommended

A bit run down

peterM3513OQ on 02/10/2017 22:23

Wonderful location next to botanical gardens and with a great balcony overlooking it, pretty snazzy. The hotel is a bit run down and appears to be manned only by junior staff, although could not fault their willingness to help and try the best. Stayed in one bedroom apartment. Used laundry in room and although worked, was quite old and seemed to leak, leaving a rather wet floor. Fixtures and fittings in bathroom very basic. But functional. Bed ok, pillow too big and hard for my liking. Breakfast made to order. Does not offer free breakfast for kids up to 12, as many Accor properties do with and advantage plus card a d it annoys me that the policy is not clear with Accor about this. Seems a bit of a lottery, as I literally stayed in another Sebel the week before which did... go figure. Had eggs Benedict for breakfast and although not bad, eggs cooked solid for both my wife and myself.
