Subotimal stay with poor response to grievance

Nice hotel room and location. However the reverse cycle aircon thermostat was non functional and set to the heating mode. Endured two uncomfortably hot nights with no resolution on raising the issue.

No response from the management either after putting a formal complaint. Extremely disappointed by this reputed hotel chain

Not pleasant.

Price was good for the location. However room was sitting right under the street, and construction works started at 4am, and kept us up. Not to mention the police and drunken idiots up there.
Shower went hot and cold continuously. No air-con working at all. Dirty vents above shower.
The staff were quite nice however.

We arrived at Quest Gordon Place with all of our luggage to come to a sign telling us to walk 500m around the building to the Lonsdale entrance (this would have been appreciated in an email before arrival). We arrived early and dropped our bags off before returning later (at the right checkin time). We checked in and paid the bond (though wasn’t told of the bond until the eftpos was given to me, nor when I would receive this back). The receptionist then handed me the room cards, which I tucked away in my phone case compartments - to which the receptionist then told me that the cards could not go near our mobiles as it reset them. She seemed annoyed at me for immediately having to get mine set to our room.

We were shown to our room by a man, which required us to weave through the Lonsdale building, outside then back through the Gordon Place building. The lift up to our room was also small, shaky, incredibly slow and the light flickered - however, I wouldn’t call this appropriate for people who cannot use stairs as there were stairs throughout, including to get into the lift.

We stayed in room 55, which is a one bedroom apartment. It was clean and quite spacious, however, the kitchen was a little bit of a squeeze but no problem.

The first night we noticed that there was no aircon or fans, and the windows available to open were small and few. The room smelt a bit as it wasn’t able to be aired, but it was most likely our own fault. We also, after cooking our dinner, realised that there was no dish detergent, sponges or tea towels provided for cleaning. We just rinsed off what we could before putting it in the dishwasher.

We required housekeeping, however, they didn’t seem to understand how to make the bed. The sheets were left untucked, the blanket was lumpy and the throw cover was left on the floor where we had put it. The apartment also was not vacuumed.

The location is great, right near a train line and a couple of tram lines. We found it easy to move around the city.

I loved my stay here! Just one night, and just a studio room but it was most comfortable. There was a walled off fire place, low handle doors and a couple of other period features which just made the room feel cosy, and sort of confusing but also charming, the location was so great and really handy for walking and food and shopping delights!👍

Its time to renovte....

This property is very well located but it really is in need of a renovation - we stayed in the original section of the Gordon Place Quest and you sense that it is on the cusp of being given a full renovation...
